At ITF Junior Open Linz 2013 - Austria- Grade 1 - Clay

[R1] Pranjala YADLAPALLI (IND,151) d. (WC) Johanna WASTIAN (AUT,NR) 60 60

[R2] Pranjala YADLAPALLI (IND,151) l. (15) Justina MIKULSKYTE (LTU,83) 67(3) 61 36

So, second week in a row Pranjala lost to a top 100 player after taking a set off. But, both her opponents were about 3 years older. Hopefully, she will turn these kind of matches around soon.

Still , this run will help Pranjala move up to around 135 in the ITF junior rankings.Stlll, comfortably the highest ranked 1999 born player in the rankings & 3rd among 14 year olds as couple of girls who are 1998 born but are few months shy of 15th birthday are ahead of her. Hope she takes more strides in the coming months.

Pranjala remains a singular talent: to be ranked 135 among juniors at age 14 is amazing.

This is a nice article on Pranjala's success with the help of GVK-

Pranjala and GVK: An association that worked wonders
Ghouse is effusive in praise too. “I could see her hunger and desire to not just win but excel. Her fighting qualities are bolstered by her blistering backhand down-the-line returns that with accuracy complement her fighting qualities.”

Pranjala’s quest for supremacy continues as she plays three back-to-back hard court tournaments at Osaka, Japan and at Chuncheon and Jeju-do in Korea, starting from Monday.
Ranked 122, she is still second best 1999 ranked girl in ITF junior ranking behind an American girl who ranked 79 & just ahead of Chinese girl who is ranked 126.

There was some confusion with Pranjala's R2 opponent with the earlier result on the ITF site being wrong....

Pranjala lost to the local WC.... :-(

[R2] (8) Pranjala YADLAPALLI (IND,129) l. (WC) Yu Jin AHN (KOR,872) 36 26

Vasanti Shinde also lost her doubles R1...

ITF Jr-1 2014, Grade 3, Chandigarh

By winning the Singles title last week, Pranjala has entered the Top-100 of the jr. ranking list for the first time and is at a career high #93 after jumping 27 spots...
Below are her wins to get the title.......

R32 W vs SINGH, Ojasvinee (IND) 6-4 6-4
R16 W vs ANONTAWEESIL, Jaipet (THA) 6-3 6-1
QF W vs LIANG, En Shuo (TPE) 6-0 6-2
SF W vs THANDI, karman kaur (IND) 3-6 7-6(0) 6-2
FR W vs THAMCHAIWAT, Bunyawi (THA) 3-6 6-2 6-3

Pranjala has around 49 points to defend for next week and if she can win the title this week again at Delhi, she can get into the 70's.... :goodluck:
SF result this week would keep her in Top-100...

She is very close to getting into the Jr. Slam events this year...

This is remarkable stuff for a 14 year old (who only turns 15 on March 30th this year). Keep up the exciting progress, Pranjala!!

Yes, Pranjala is now third youngest player in top 100 . 2 American girls, Belis at 49 & Gordon at 56 are younger than her & are ahead. Apart from these 3 , there is only 1 1999 born girl, Chinese Cao Siqi who is in top 100 but she is a couple of month older than Pranjala.

Pranjala would be trying to get into or at least close to top 50 by end March so that she can get into main draws of remaining grand slams this year.

At Biesterbos Open 2014 (Grade 2 - Clay)

[R1] Ida JARLSKOG (SWE) 6-1 6-2 Pranjala YADLAPALLI (IND) [4]

Pranjala's game seems to have staganed a bit in last 6 months or she is finding tough to play on European clay as it happnes in case of most of the Indian players.
