Thiemo de Bakker just beat Verdasco to reach round 3 in the main draw, so at least in this case, Som lost to an opponent in good form this week.

He lacks the weapons to make that surprise run.

After their Dubai title, I expected Rohan & Aisam to create some waves in these 2 weeks but not to be.

Sania & Cara got a walkover in the second round & are thru to the QF.

Btw, this what Mahesh tweeted after his loss yesterday -
Dominated every stat on the sheet today and still didn't get a win... Clear sign the end is near,..
Indeed the end appears near for at least 1 half of the famed Indian express. Sad. :-(

[5]Black/Mirza (ZIM/IND) d [4]Peschke/Srebotnik (CZE/SLO) 6-4,6-3.
Another good win by Cara and Sania and into the SF and will meet Hingis/Lisicki in the SFs - what an entrancing prospect.

Hingis/Lisicki are taking the courts by storm coming in as a WC pair...

Should be an enthralling matchup....

Yes, very unusual statistics for a losing pair. Mahesh and partner won 68 to 59 (54%to46%) of the total points. One possible explanation is because they consistently held serve relatively easily compared to their opponents.

Taking a closer look at stats shown that MB and partner won 33 points to 19 in the second set. So, it was surprising that they won that set only 6-4. Rest of the stats are normal.

Another very good win by Sania & Cara. This pair really looks to be becomimg more & more consistent at top level now.

Great top-level consistency by Sania/Cara. I think one Slam title will be coming their way this year...

[SF] (5) Cara Black (ZIM,10) / Sania Mirza (IND,8) l. (WC) Martina Hingis (SUI,173) / Sabine Lisicki (GER,64/15s) 36 46

Tough loss for Cara/Sania....
After losing the first set 3-6, they tried to make a fight out of it by leading 4-2 in the 2nd set, but lost 4 games on the trot including two breaks of serve to lose... :-(

Sania/Cara stumbled in the semis at Miami. Suprisingly, Hingis (partnering Lisicki) is playing quite well here. Anyway, Sania and Cara played enough tennis together for us to expect a win against a scratch pair in the semis of a high-profile tournament. I checked the scores only once when they were down a set and on serve 3-4 in the second. I was pretty confident that they would get that set and then pull it off in MTB. Very disappointing to see them lose in straights, 3 & 4.

For records,

[SF] [5] Sania Mirza (Ind)/Cara Black (Zim) l. Martina Hingis (Sui)/Sabine Lisicki (Ger) 3-6, 4-6
