Yes, I agree with Saniapower's suggestion. It used to work that way before, no?

Yes, once again it forced me to change my password. But once I did that, it seems to be working OK.

I had to change password too. It is actually non-problematic but you may get confused, as it may throw you back out to the password change page once again, after it changes your password. Everybody should remember to just disregard that and click at the "board index" link above and move on. remember your new password, that's all. Don't change password again (it's okay if you do, but remember the latest password you used!)... In addition, it also placed my username in the field for email address (at the same time saying that you don't need to fill that field unless you are changing email address). Just delete whatever is in that field before you hit "submit" after typing in the new passwords twice and the old password below.

I did three password changes in a row before I realized that I should stop doing that, and that it's some kind of a bug. I think you do have to change the password once if it asks you, but if it throws you back into the page, then don't do anything and move on to the site links.

Worth remembering this for future reference whenever it asks for passwords.

I changed the thread title too. Hopefully people will read it and be ready for the next time it asks for the password.

I again had got confused last month when it asked for a password change. I had forgotten about my own note above, so I changed my password a couple of times and panicked that I was in trouble. Again, it seemed to suddenly work and then I couldn't remember what made me change the password - so I think things are probably the same as in 2013 when I posted it above.

But Dhruv had updated the site software a few months ago. Not sure if anything changed. Can you play around with your old account a bit more and check, Tolamu?

Anybody else had this problem recently?

I was asked to changed my password. But I didn't remember my current password. Luckily, it was stored on one of my computers and I was able to change the password. I didn't login to SI during last week as I had to sort out this issue.
