Re: Sania Mirza 2013
Sania is on a spectacular run: title at the New Haven Open (with Zheng Jie) just before the US Open, then SF in the US Open itself, and now the final of the Toray Pan-Pacific Open in Tokyo (with a new partner, Cara Black). Terrific!!

Re: Sania Mirza 2013
Yes & Sania has nothing to defend for this week. So, she will rise up at least 3 more spots in the rankings from current ranking of 15. She is headed back to top 10 if she continues this form.
[F] Sania Mirza (IND,15) / Cara Black (ZIM,24) vs. Hao-Ching Chan (TPE,38) / Liezel Huber (USA,25)
So, she is up against her old partner, Huber. Match at 3 pm tomorrow.

Good luck to Sania and Cara. Sania's largest prize money for the year is just 1 match win away!

Re: Sania Mirza 2013
Great way to win the title, taking the final 4 points straight! Looks like Sania has decided to stay at the top in doubles and is quite focused on the job. Jay

Re: Sania Mirza 2013
Great result for Sania . She earns 900 points & US$ 60,000 + individually for this effort which is her biggest pay cheque this year.
This comes just at the right time when she has 900 points to defend next week at Beijing where she made the final last year with Nuria Llagostera Vives. She will be still be above her current ranking even if she does not do too well next week. But, of course another good week can take her back to top 10.
Go Sania.

Re: Sania Mirza 2013
She should be able to end the year at No. 9, given that all those involved in the year end finals are ranked above her.
Very well done.

Re: Sania Mirza 2013
That cannot be, as there will be 16 people in the year-end championships...
Nonetheless, this has been a very satisfactory year for Sania, and getting back to #9 in the world is just reward for her excellent performance this year -- with 5 titles. The August-October period was especially productive -- and she clearly was playing like a top-5 doubles player during that period. Long may this form continue next year!

Re: Sania Mirza 2013
There are 4 pairs involved in the Women's year end doubles finals (The men's have 8 pairs involved). This has been the case with women's tour for sometime now.
However, there is a chance that an alternate pair might replace an injured pair from among the initial 4 and this could change the points and the standings.
