Atrocity!

Post by prasen9 »

Creating a new thread to vent (as if I am not doing enough elsewhere)! BART Police in Oakland shot a young black man Oscar Grant while he was lying
prostrate face down on the ground doing nothing. There are videos on
youtube. I saw it --- that leaves you numb. I have seen reports/videos
of police brutality before, Rodney King, etc. but still ... The guy
resigned from his post, so BART cannot investigate. The DA's office is
investigating I suppose. Some say it was an accident, did not look like
that to me, or even if it did, this should be involuntary manslaughter.
In the meantime, protestors in downtown Oakland burn, cars,
etc. Have any of you seen the movie Crash?

Yes that was shocking to watch!
1. There is a theory that this officer wanted to use a TASER and had mistakenly used his regular gun instead. I am not so sure though, since it really is apples and oranges. A Taser has a different feel and grip from a gun. A trained officer would know such a difference and act accordingly.

2. Something went off mentally within the officer. some switch clicked and he went insane momentarily.

3. He pulled his gun out intentionally and shot the guy who was lying face down.

I was under the impression that a human body can survive a single gun shot in the back. Apparently not. So sad to see this.

Yes, the videos of the incident are very chilling. The first thing that came to my mind was the taser theory.
Had there been no video, I'm sure that BART and the investigating authorities would have already brushed it under the carpet.
