Nudnida Luangnam doesn't have good results recently so I feel Tara having decent chance of scoring upset win here ... In doubles Tara is partnering Montinee Tangphong of Thailand.

Doubles -
[R1] Tara Iyer (IND)/ Montinee Tangphong (THA) vs Stefania Boffa (SUI)/ Anne Yelsey (USA)

At $25K Traralgon Challenger, Australia

[R1] Tara Iyer (IND,358) l (7) Nudnida Luangnam (THA,323) 46 57

She needs to work hard to move next stage, winning some matches here definetly help her to build confidence to move further.

At $75K Midland challanger, Mi, USA

[Q1] (7) IYER, Tara (IND,375) l. WASHINGTON, Mashona (USA,832) 63 36 36

Mashona is a former top 50 player. So, she used her experiance well after Tara had made a good start.

More importantly, it is good to see Tara back on the circuit.  And seemingly playing quite decently.

Exactly, good to see her back on court and able to play 3 sets without much problem.

Just found that Tara has been playing for Duke university since end January. I was wondering if she was still injured .

She has been playing no. 1 for Duke but not having much success by her standards having 10-11 record so far. Lost a lot of matches to ranked players.

Not sure why she went back to college just when she was doing so well last year & looked to be taking the next step on pro tour.

Im a little surprised that Tara is struggling a bit (for her standards), at Duke. She has lost some really close ones (5 lof her losses were in 3rd set tiebreak/supertiebreak). Mainly With the influx of all these foreign players (especially from europe), the competition is very tough.

This is an extremely poor showing by Tara at the university level.  It goes without saying that a female with serious pro aspirations should not be losing college matches often.

Latest on Tara -

Yet another comeback on the cards for Tara

IMO, her decision to take a break from her pro career at this stage would set her back a bit rather then help her game.

Tara Iyer has completed her graduation & is planning to make a comeback to the circuit in Jan. 2010.

After studies, focus is back on court’

I was in Kolkata and watched that Sunfeast open 2007 Tara vs Pennetta in the Netaji Indoor. Pennetta was in the 70s that time. Tara broke Pennetta serve early in the match but that's all. After that it was all Flavia Pennetta. Actually i didn't find anything superlative about her tennis except her serve. Even her 2nd serve was better than Sania's 1st serve.
