Tough loss to the sixth seed, after a very tough fight indeed. Given that he was playing the top-seed in the earlier round, I presume Giuffre (who beat him in Quebec last month) is higher-ranked than Ritwik. If I understand what Dhruv is saying, Ritwik's ranking might actually drop despite beating the 35th-ranked player in the world (and the top-seed in the tournament). That is absurd!!
But Ritwik is clearly making progress: it is very rare for lower-ranked players to beat significantly higher-ranked ones in squash.

Ritwik Bhattacharya won through to the quarter-finals of the Malaysian Open squash championships on Tuesday, as reported here:

Last year, this tournament was held in December, and Ritwik had qualified in before losing in the first round. This time he has gone one better. Congratulations!

Today's Malaysian papers reported that he lost in four games to local favourite Ong Beng Hee in the QF.

Ritwik is at his highest ranking ever of 59 last month and this QF will get him 85 points which should increase his average of 59 pts (interestingly). He will probably go up to new all time high of 55.

The December rankings are out and Ritwik only went to 58 although the next few rankings are separated by less than 2 points.
