Nice article on the future of Indian badminton. It is written by Sanjay Sharma, a former player who used to write for Sportsar.
I honestly found this article quite irritating, full of cliches and bad writing.

Lakshya Sen had a poor loss in R-16 after scraping through his first round. So, he was clearly in poor form in Korea. Bansod also went out easily in the R-16.

Srikanth and Sindhu are in QFs as are Satwik-Chirag.

Srikanth beats Korean former world #1 Son Wanho in 3 games to reach SF of mens singles. Sindhu extended her winning record to 17-1 against Thai Busanan.

Satwik-Chirag lost to Korean team after wasting 2 matchpoints at 20-18 in third game. They are losing too many of these close matches. Need to get over them if they want to get to top 5 and better.

Srikanth meets Indonesian Jonathan Christie in the SF whom he lost in Swiss open SF. Sindhu meets Korean world #4 An Seyoung whom she has lost to all the 3 times that they have played.

Something strange is going on in Badminton. Looks like the pen-pushers/adminstrators are acting arbitrarily. Does anyone understand what is going on?
"BAI trying to pull me down" - Saina Nehwal lashes out at federation Saina Nehwal has spoken up against the BAI and alleged they are "happy to put me out of CWG" squad after she announced she will be skipping the badminton selection trials

The entire Indian badminton contingent has pulled out of the upcoming Korea Masters 2022 tournament that is scheduled to kick start on 12th April, Tuesday. This week Asian individual badminton championships is going on in Manila, Philippines.

In mens singles, Lakhsya Sen had a bad loss to his junior peer Chinese Li Shing Feng 19-21 in third game after leading 17-10 in third game at one point of time. Laskhya had lost to Li in youth olympics final in 2018 but on mens tour Lakshya has gone up faster and is in top 10 and Chinese is still ranked only 64. So, this was a bad loss for Lakshya. Srikanth lost in second round to another Chinese Weng Hong Yang 17-21 in third game. Weng is someone who has suddenly hit top form winning Korea open title out of nowhere last month.

In mens doubles, Satwik and Chirag lost in close 3 games in QF to Malyasian Tokyo olympic bronze medialists 16-21 in third.

But, as usual our best success has come thru Sindhu in womens singles. Today Sindhu beat Chinese He Biangjiao in QF 21-19 in third game. This was a repeat of Tokyo olympics bronze medal match. But, He Biangjiao has been in top form this year winning German Open and Korean masters titles. Great to see Sindhu repeating her Tokyo result here.

Sindhu will be up against top seed Yamaguchi next. Sindhu leads 13-8 in head to head and has won 3 of their 4 matches since last year including Tokyo olympics QF. Yamaguchi has won All England title last month though and is too in top form.

Sindhu lost 21-13 19-21 16-21 against Yamaguchi. I did not see the match but comments on twitter it does seem that after winning the first game Sindhu was up 14-11 in second game too and that point was given a point penalty for taking too long to serve. That upset her and she had a long argument with umpire and then lost all the momentum.

This week Thailand BWF 500 is going on. Out of our Thomas cup heros, Lakshya and Satwik-Chirag did not play here. Srikanth won a round but retired after that. Prannoy lost in first round.

However, Sindhu is thru to singles SF after an excellent win over world, #1 Yamaguchi in QF. She will play Olympic champiknChen Yufei in SF.

Sindhu lost 17-21 16-21 against olympic Champion Chen Yufei at Thailand open. Sindhu is mostly playing like a player ranked between 5-8 as she is ranked currently. She is 27 now. Will be 29 by Paris Olympics. If she can keep up this form, she can still aim for a surge at olympics ( like she does in many big events) and for third consecutive medal like no Indian has ever done. Still 2 years to go though and anything can happen.

This week only very few of our players played in Indonesian Masters Super 500 tournament. Lakshya Sen and Sindhu reached QF in mens and womens singles respectively but both lost there. 9th ranked Lakshya lost against 4th ranked Chen Tien Chou from Taiwan 14-21 in third game while 7th ranked Sindhu got thrashed by 8th ranked Intanon in straight games .

Next week bigger tournament super 1000 is there in Indonesia where looks like bigger Indian contingent will be there with Srikanth, Prannoy, Satwik-Chirag are likely to be back.

No Satwik-Chirag or Saina this week in Indonesia Open 1000 but Srikanth and Prannoy were back this week. But, disappointing upset for Srikanth against Frenchman ranked below top 40 in first round and Lakshya got thrashed by Prannoy in the first round. Prannoy has won his second round match too against 12th ranked Hongkong player Angus in straight games. He plays Dane Rasmus Gemke in QF tomorrow.
