Ok so she is Aditi Bhat and did reasonably well in Uber cup where she even took a game of world no 12 thai girl Busanan Ongbamrungphan. She is 18.

Our #3, 4 and 5 are quite young. Akarshi Kashyap ranked 59 is 20, Ashmita Chalita ranked 68 is 22 and Malvika Bansod ranked 84 is 20. But, somehow I do not see anyone among these to be top 10 potential like Sindhu and Saina.

It looks we will have somewhat of a void in womens badminton once Sindhu goes out. I am not quite sure about Tasnim Mir too who seems to be ranked # 1 in juniors but has not won a junior world title or anything. Let her reach at least SF or so at junior worlds and then we can talk. I am not sure how she got to #1.

Seems like a quirk of the ranking system. She seemingly dominated some European events to get to the top with all the others being European players thar are in the top 10. Since the top players in badminton are in Asia (Japan, China, Korea, Thailand etc.), she will need to do well against Asian opponents to be a credible #1 even if she is ranked there now.

FWIW, someone from Nepal heads the boys list. :D

Yes, only 1 Indian- Mithun Manjunath made it to the singles SF. 121st ranked Manjunath upset 71st ranked Russian Sirant in the QF.

In womens singles, Sindhu beat 30th ranked Thai youngster Supanida whom she had lost to last week in 3 close game. She plays 28th ranked Russian Kosetskya in the SF. Other SF will be all Indian one between 20 year old Malvika Bansod and 16 year old Anupama Upadhyay. Those 2 Indians only beat other Indians in the earlier rounds. So, I would see this as an opportunity to raise their ranking rather than any great achievement.

Some really good results against foreign opponents by young Indian doubles team on the other hand. 7th seeded pair of Gayatri Gopichand and Tresa Jolly upset 39th ranked Russian pair in the QF.

In Lucknow Super 300 tournament, it will be an all Indian final in womens singles and mixed doubles. Sindhu will play 20 year old Malvika Bansod.

Mixed doubles final will be 2 young Indian pairs- the more exciting among them appear to be pairing of 18 year old Tanisha Crasto and 19 year old Ishan Bhatnagar. They have done well in lower level international tournaments before this in November and December.

Mens singles final will be an all French one.

Both mens and womens doubles finals will be between Indian and Malaysian pairs.

Indian Mens doubles pair in finals will be pair of 21 year old Krishan Prasad Garaga and 20 year old Vishnu Vardhan Panjala.

Womens doubles pair will be another exciting young pair of 18 year olds Tresa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand ( daughter of Pullela Gopichand). They did beat 2 higher ranked foreign pairs in QF and SF and did not have easy draws only against Indians like mens doubles and mixed doubles pairs.

2 titles for India at Sayed Modi Super 300. Sindhu in womens singles and Ishan Bhatnagar/Tanisha Crasto in mixed doubles. Our mens and womens doubles pairs lost to Malyasian pairs in the final.

All these Indian doubles pairs are aged around 18-21. So, this year will be the one where we will know if to start with they come to top 40-50 level and eventually if any of them can come up to the level of Satwik-Chirag. This was also a good opportunity for them to ramp up points in a weak field which they did. They will have another opportunity next week at Odisha Open Super 100.

21 year old Kiran George won the men's singles title, 14 year old Unnati Hooda won the women's singles title. Unnati is the one to watch out for.

Womens doubles title went to Gayatri Gopichand and Tresa Jolly. This pair won back to back titles.

14 yo Unnati defeated Malvika Bhansod in semi final. Malvoka is Indian open finalist. So yes she is one to watch out for.

Yep, here's hoping for massive unnati from Unnati and not too much abanati.

Thanks for sharing. All the draws are in the link. Sindhu and Satwik-Chirag are seeded.

Amazing that 7 Indian men are in the 32 person draw (with 4 of them being in same quarter). The only 2 women, Sindhu and Saina, are in the same quarter.

Saina still got in? I thought she was not winning many matches of late. Great to see such high representation.
