Srikanth, Lakshya Sen, and Sindhu have made the world tour finals as well as our top Mens and womens doubles pairs.

While both doubles teams have lost their initial matches, al l three of our singles players have won their first matches with Lakshya Sen incapacitating the world #1.😁

Due to persistent niggle in Satwik's knee, they decided to pull out from on-going BWF World Tour Finals.

Why did Lakshya Sen play Axleson in semi finals? They were in the same group and he had a similar loss in the group stage as well.

Sindhu had tough game. So I don't know how fit she will be for the finals. Her opponent in the finals also had a tough match but only two games vs three close one for Sindhu.

In badminton, they draw the lots again after the round robin stage for the semi finals. Too bad Lakshya Sen hasn't been able to win against the likes of Momota or Axelsen yet, although he has played some brilliant shots in patches. He even was training with Axelsen in Dubai as his training partner few months ago it seems. Lakshya Sen really needs to work on his movement and defense. Its still a great achievement to make it to the SFs in your first ever YECs. His junior compatriot, Kunlavut Vitidsarn, three time world junior championships winner has made it to the finals defeating Lee Zii Jia. He also won the BWF most promising player award. World Championships, next!

An Se Young is most likely going to be a future legend. She has been phenomenal this year. Without Tai, Marin, Yufei, Bingjiao, or a fully fit Intanon, her matches have been competitive only against Yamaguchi. This was Sindhu's third straight set loss against Seyoung. WCs will be a tough test with all the aforementioned players and some up & coming Chinese players returning. Still, I don't think it'll be too long before she is ranked #1 unless there's some big injury (she has been playing with her thigh strapped for the last 2 months!)

Yes, but looks like there is not much difference right now between Lakshya and Kunlavut. Kunulavut lost to Axelsen 12-21 8-21 which was slightly worse scoreline than Lakshya's loss yesterday. Both are future starts. I really hope eventually Lakhya has a better career than fellow Indians where all went in or close to top 10 but could never go in top 5 ( except Srikanth for a brief while) in last 4-5 years ( Srikanth, Prannoy, Sai Praneeth, Sameer Verma). Right now Lakshya appears to be our only hope in singles- men or women.

This is probably the weakest draw in MS for WC level. China for some reason fielded their younger players(heard they suspended Shi yuqi and Chen long for insubordination not sure if it's true) and by withdrawing their players Indonesia decided to vent their frustration at stupid world body for suspending all indonesian players in All England just because a passenger in the flight tested Covid positive. Victor Axelsen is injured and his compatriot Anders Antonsen is the only one looking serious contender unless the virtually unknown Chinese youngsters are super talented which happens so often. So anything can happen in MS now!

Ah! That explains the large number of withdrawals. Prannoy beats Darren Liew 21-7 21-17 to join Lakshya Sen and Srikanth in the round of 16.

That was way back in March. Not sure why indonesia choose to take action so late?
