Beating Jonatan Christie in the final is a huge success.

Great to see consistency from Sai Praneeth and also for winning with grit against a good opponent. Hopefully, he'll be our next top-10 men's player soon.

What a win for Saina Nehwal. Didn't see this coming, she beat 2015 champion and world no.8 Ratchanok Inthanon 17-21, 21-18, 21-12. Saina is back

This is Saina's favourite tournament. Hope she wins it for the 4th time.

And when Saina wins (a major win), we get Sandeep so excited that he comes back. For this reason alone, Saina should win more :-)

Saina has a potential QF against TTY. The latter is a really bad matchup for Saina in good form so would be way too hard for the current one.

Let's see. People sometimes have bad days and good days and cause random upsets.

Srikanth beats Jorgensen. Good chance for him to reach the final here also.

Given India's recent success in badminton, it may not be a bad idea to rank India's greatest players of all time. Maybe top 10 in men's singles and top 5 in women's singles and top 5 doubles pairs in each of the 3 doubles disciplines.

Almost everyone is going to be an active player so too early for that imo.

I'll do a top 4 for MS and top 3 for WS. And 1 each for WD and XD. No one else has done enough to count yet and/or will break into the top 10 eventually.

MS
Prakash Padukone (WR #1, World championships bronze)
Srikanth Kidambi (WR #3, China SSP winner, Olympics QF)
Pullela Gopichand (WR #5, All England winner)
Parupalli Kashyap (WR #6, CWG gold medallist, Olympics QF)

WS
Saina Nehwal (WR #1, Olympics bronze, World championships silver, 10x SS wins)
PV Sindhu (WR #2, Olympics silver, World championships bronze x2)
Aparna Popat (WR #16, CWG silver)

WD

Jwala Gutta / Ashwini Ponappa (WR #10, World championships bronze, CWG gold)

XD

Jwala Gutta / V Diju (WR #6, SS Finals Silver)

I don't count players from the 50s and 60s when badminton was not even a sport.

How about Ami Ghia in women's singles former world no. 7?

In singles, I think both Sai Praneeth and Prannoy would make it among the greats once they are done with their careers. Also don't forget Chetan Anand, former world no. 11 who won 3 Grand Prix titles.
