Re: Indian Badminton Thread ...
Sourabh Varma scored huge upset win over local favorite and former WR #1 Peter Gade ... Gade is remained in top-10 despite his 36 yrs old age ... Sourabh became only 3rd Indian to beat him, before this Gopichand defeated him in 2001 at All England open and then Anup Sridhar defeated him in 2009 in Singapore Super Series ... All other Indian players failed to overcome Gade's challenge ... In the first game Sourbh opened 5-0 lead which he increased to 17-11 ... Gade reduced it to 16-17 but Sourabh kept his cool on next important points to won it ... In the second game from 6-5 Sourabh opened lead which he kept increasing and won this game comfortably.
Ajay started confidently against Du but after winning the first game Ajay failed to keep challenge with Du, who won last two games very comfortably.

Saina scored comfortable win inside 20 minutes against Japanese Mitani and enter into the quarters.
Sourabh failed to build on the upset he scored against Gade ... In the first game he fought neck to neck but failed to convert crucial points ... In the second game also same story repeated.

Re: Indian Badminton Thread ...
Sourabh was leading 15-12 and then 18-16 in the first game, but couldn't close it out by losing 3 straight points from 19-18... In the 2nd game, he went into the break leading 11-10, but lost 10 out of the next 12 points to trail 13-20, tried to come back by saving 4 match points, but lost it in the end......
This should be a good experience for Sourabh to build on his skills and become stronger.....

Re: Indian Badminton Thread ...
In this Danish Super Series Saina is looking in attacking form ... In this match also she attacked Baun's serve and won this match in 33 minutes losing only 21 points ... But next Saina is having her toughest test against WR #1 Yihan Wang, against whom she is still searching for her first win after 6 matches.
In the quarters Saina opened early lead of 7-2 and then kept increasing to win the first game ... In the second game Baun was with Saina until 7-8 but then Saina won 7 points in a row to take control of the game.

Re: Indian Badminton Thread ...
I failed to mention details of the match ... For viewers it was weird match as in the first game Minatsu Mitani take 15-0 (u read correctly, 15-0) lead but after that Saina won 25 points in a row to win this game and take 4-0 lead in the second ... Both players were attacking and smashing so this match ended in 19 minutes only ... Saina hit 27 smash winners from her 42 points and other hand Minatsu Mitani hit 19 smash winners from her 29 points.jaydeep wrote:[R2] (3) Saina Nehwal (IND,4) bt Minatsu Mitani (JPN,28) 21-15 21-14

Re: Indian Badminton Thread ...
nope ...I think that was the information mentioned in tournament software....but that wasn't the case there....the match started directly with 1-1...and saina was leading with 10-6 at one moment....then,mitani won 6 straight points to go 14-10 ahead...then saina won 10 straight points to make it 20-10...this match can be seen in bwf channel in youtube.....jaydeep wrote:I failed to mention details of the match ... Re: Indian Badminton Thread ...
Thanks depleter ... I was also surprised to see scoring pattern which I read in newspaper.
Saina survives scare, advances to Denmark Open quarterfinals
Saina survives scare, advances to Denmark Open quarterfinals
In the first game, Minatsu surprised Saina by clinching the first 15 points without losing her serve, going 15-0 up. Saina, however, relied on all her experience to effect a dramatic turnaround, fighting back to first level scores and then overcome Mitani. The Hyderabadi won 21 straight points, 20 on her own serve, to take the game 21-15.

Re: Indian Badminton Thread ...
Nehwal won 1st game 21-12. Wow ! She was trailing 0-5 in 1st game. She did too many unforced errors. On the other side her drops were beautiful afterward.
Middle of 2nd game. Nehwal is leading 12-7. Wang has some injury issue on her right knee.
Wang retired from the match. Nehwal won.

Re: Indian Badminton Thread ...
New Chinese tactics ... Whenever player is losing then the player decide to retire from the match against Saina.
So this is the first win for Saina against Yihan Wang ... Next she is facing German Juliane Schenk in the final.

At last Saina has defeated Yihan Wang. Really good feeling to get this win.
Now don't mess up in the final.

Saina Nehwal breaks Wang Yihan barrier at Denmark Open
At last, Saina Nehwal has breached what was the final frontier for her. She brought down the final brick in the Chinese Wall, world No.1 Wang Yihan, who remained the only Chinese player till now not to have fallen to the Indian.
