Arjun/Dhruv thrashed Daddies in the first set in Singapore Open QF last month. The last 2 sets were quite close. Dhruv made some silly mistakes. I hope tomorrow is their day and they create history. Same goes for Chirag/Rankireddy. It would be amazing to see two doubles players standing on the podium. Also, when rankings are unfrozen Dhruv/Arjun will be around top15-20.

I like this name "Daddies"... Looks like the forum has accepted and institionalized it already :)

That is the name by which they are called all over social media. So, not a name coined by the forum. :D

Oh okay. That is great. I don't follow badminton closely, so didn't know that they were Daddies to everybody! :)

You should start following now. Badminton is going the tennis way. From being a country that used to produce good singles players we are moving towards a country of doubles specialists.

Its not me calling names Jay :) wikipedia says this about this doubles pair.
Mohammed ASHAN
"Their nickname is "The Daddies" because both of them have started families and often show affection towards their children."

Yes, great to see emergence of our doubles teams on the mens side. However, I think our singles game is still pretty strong. I wonder if they move to current (i.e., 1 year) performance ranking, if both Prannoy and Lakshya Sen would be in the top 10 which is about as good as we have ever been in mens singles and of course Sindhu is still a solid top 10 in womens singles.

Only on the men's side though. On the women's side, not seeing much improvement.

Hope Gayatri Gopichand and Treesa Jolly can raise their game. This year they did reach the All England semis and won a bronze at the Commonwealth Games and reached the finals of the SYed Modi tournament.

And Satwik-Chirag beat the defending champions to reach the SF. :bounce:

First mens doubles pair to win a medal in world championships.

[QF] MR Arjun / Dhruv Kapila (IND,35) l. (3) Mohmmad Ahsan / Hendra Setiawan (INA,3) 8-21 14-21

[QF] (7) Satwiksairaj Rankireddy / Chirag Shetty (IND,7) d. (2) Takuro Hoki (JPN) / Yugo Kobayashi (JPN,2) 24-22 15-21 21-14

Our 12 year streak of at least 1 medal in every world championships/olympics is kept intact.

Satvik and Chirag have an extremely winnable semi final. The Indonesians face off in the other semi final. Hope they make it to the final. The minions are out. So quite likely the daddies will reach the final.
