Another battle of Sens. Hope Lakshya attains his target today and hope good sense prevails in his shot selection. Don't want Axel to be the victor today.

Not to be for Lakshya today. He lost 10-21 15-21 to Axelsen. World #1 showed his class. Did not drop a game in the whole tournament .

Lakshya looked a bit tired after a long SF. Between yesterday's match and today Viktor got six hours more rest. But these things happen.

Lakshya actually got 6 hrs more rest and a walkover in the QF. Victor was just a better player consistently, but Lakshya played some brilliant rallies.

Yes, Axlesen did not give Lakshya a chance to come back yesterday. Lee Zee Jia day before yesterday went into his shell as he was nearing victory and stopped going for the lines and that allowed Lakhsya to get back into that match with some great defensive and offensive play.

Lakhhya really needs to add some power in his shots. As of now he is not able to overpower his opponents. I guess that will come as he grows older. Already his attacking skills are better than when I had seen him couple of years back.

Didn't watch the final but in the previous 2 matches he showed elite defensive skills and is also very skillful at the net (where he wins his share of the duels against the top guys). The only thing he lacks is power in his smashes as he does place them well. He is already playing at a top 5 level and adding a little more power to his smashes could see him reach the very top.

Of course, it could be easier said than done. For a tennis analogy, if Yuki could had pop to his serve, he could be a solid top 50 player but it isn't something he has been able to do (apart from his injuries). Note that Lakshya Sen is significantly shorter than the likes of Antonsen, Lee ZJ, and Axelsen, so it may not be as easy for him to add to his smashes.

And promptly lost after. Satwik has been underwhelming after the initial promise.

Srikanth beat Antonsen to reach the semis, Prannoy making the most of Axelsen's withdrawal to reach the semis from the other half.

Sindhu with a comfortable run to the semis as well.

Axelsen withdrew once he saw he might have to face Prannoy. 😁 Good run by the 3 Indian singles semi finalists.

Satwik and Chirag have the tools to dominate but do not appear to be well coordinated even though they have been playing together for some time. You will see them both lunge for the same shot quite often whereas the other top pairs appear to have much better coordination on who covers which shot.

Yes, it has been Satwik who has been pulling the team down just as Chirag has improved a lot since their early days. They need to get all together to be a real medal contenders at bog events.

Watched Srikanth win yesterday against Antonsen. Srikanth is a delight to watch when he is on song and has a lot of variety in his game but also makes loads of errors at times. Great that he finally pulled thru ina topsy turvy match yesterday.

It is India vs Indonesia in 2 mens singles semi finals. Srikanth vs Jonathan Christie and Prannoy vs Ginting.

Sindhu plays Thai youngster Sunaida who beat her at India open. But, Sindhu did beat her the week after that.

Prannoy beats Ginting 21-19 19-21 21-18 to get to his first final at this level after long time. But, Srikanth lost to other Indonesian Jonathan Christie 21-18 7-21 13-21. It looks like Srikanth was tired after 2 long matches earlier in the week.

Prannoy against Christie in the final. Prannoy is 3-4 against him in head to head

Sindhu beats young Thai player Supanida in 3 games- 21-18 15-21 21-19. She will be up against another Thai 11th ranked Busanan in final. Sindhu has a 15-1 record against her.

Sindhu had her 16th win over Busanan and won her second title of this year.

Prannoy lost in the final against Jonathan Christie in straight game. Still one of the better performances by Prannoy in long time and we had runner up finishes in all 3 weeks in this European series tournaments.

Next week lower level BWF 100 tournament will be held in Orleans, France. Our top tier players won't be playing there. Hopefully, our second tier players have some success next week.
