Yes, a superb win by Satwik and Chirag, against a Danish pair they have lost their previous 2 matches but those were in 2017 and 2018 ... Hoping for a first win against this pair.

[QF] (8) Saina Nehwal (IND,8) vs Se Young An (KOR,16)
[QF] (5) Pusarla V. Sindhu (IND,6) vs (1) Tzu Ying Tai (TPE,1)

[QF] Satwiksairaj Rankireddy (IND)/ Chirag Shetty (IND) vs Kim Astrup (DEN)/ Anders Skaarup Rasmussen (DEN)

[QF] (8) Saina Nehwal (IND,8) l Se Young An (KOR,16) 20-22, 21-23

[QF] Satwiksairaj Rankireddy (IND)/ Chirag Shetty (IND)(11) d Kim Astrup (DEN)/ Anders Skaarup Rasmussen (DEN)(8) 21-13, 22-20

Confident win by Satwik/Chirag. They next play the winner of #3 vs #6, so a tough match awaits them in the SFs as would be expected.
Close loss for Saina.

Saina needs to win such matches if she needs to qualify for Tokyo. She had the easiest draw in this tournament.
Sindhu as usual lost to Tai. That is a normal like losing to Iran in kabaddi, volleyball and football.

No. It is not that bad. Sindhu did beat in their last 2 matches before yesterday and overall record is 5-11 which is not as bad as we have against Iran in volleyball. Yesterday, too she ran her very close.

[QF] (5) Pusarla V. Sindhu (IND,6) l. (1) Tzu Ying Tai (TPE,1) 16-21 26-24 17-21

At least good to see Sindhu back to close to her best form after 3 bad losses post WC.

[SF] Satwiksairaj RANKIREDDY / Chirag SHETTY (IND,11) vs. (5) Yuta WATANABE / Hiroyuki ENDO (JPN,6)

TTY got crushed by Marin in the semis so the latter is fast re-establishing herself as the dominant player of this era.

An se-young, the 17 year old Korean who beat Saina in the quarters beat Yamaguchi in straights in the semis so another player to throw in the mix.

Yes, women's singles is becoming more and more competitive. This Korean youngster is looking better and better. She beat Sindhu and Saina in back to back weeks and now Yamaguchi. Marin also coming back very strong. Sindhu has a real challenge in hand to defend her olympic medal in Tokyo.

Excellent stuff from Chirag and Satwik to beat the Japanese in straights. Felt concerned they might crumble after match points kept being saved but won 25-23 in the second.

Very attacking performance from them.

Yes, in Thailand open, they beat the current world #3 and #7 in winning the title. This week they have beaten current world # 2, #6 and #8. And they had a negative record against all these pairs prior to this. Now, they have beaten 5 out of top 8 pairs in last 4 months.

But, now their toughest test in final.

At Yonex French Open ( Super 750)

[SF] Satwiksairaj RANKIREDDY / Chirag SHETTY (IND,11) d. (5) Yuta WATANABE / Hiroyuki ENDO (JPN,6) 21-11 25-23

Next,

[F] Satwiksairaj RANKIREDDY / Chirag SHETTY (IND,11) vs. (1) Kevin Sanjaya SUKAMULJO / Marcus Fernaldi GIDEON (INA,1)

Satwik-Chirag have 0-6 record against the world #1 pair. It will be a big task to turn that around.

An se young is just toying with Marin right now. Can she continue?
I am surprised what happened in last game.

An Se Young has now beaten TTY, Saina, Sindhu, Akane and Marin in the last couple of months. She will get a more attention and analysis but if that can't find any kinks in her game, she might well be the dominant player in the coming years.

Yes, what a talent this 17 year old Korean. She simply destroyed Marin in third game.

Satwik- Chirag final after a while.

An SeYoung does seem to be the next big thing. She is just a 17-year old schoolgirl and is doing all this?? Hmmm....
