Give a Bento box to Kento and he may not be able to move too well if he eats too much. Just an idea :-)

Srikanth will never win a major medal. Not mentally strong enough.

Agree with Sin Hombre as per available sample data ... He has always choked up in World Cups or Olympics.

Yes, both Srikanth and Prannoy have faltered in big events. Despite all the improvement our mens singles is still not looking as a medal prospect as our womens singles for next olympics.

The first 2 matches of the day ended in straight game losses for our players.

[QF] (10) Saina Nehwal (IND,10) l. (7) Carolina Marin (ESP,7) 6-21 11-21

[QF] Satwiksairaj Rankireddy (IND)/ Ashwini Ponnappa (IND) l. (1) Siwei Zheng (CHN) / Yaquion Huang (CHN) 17-21 10-21

One sided loss for Saina who did not looks 100% and Marin beginning to get back to her olympic winning form.

In their last meeting in October 2017. But, I think at that time Saina was playing much better and Marin was not at her best. Today, it was other way around. Saina was not moving around as well as she should in such tough matches.

Anyway, not to take anything away from Saina. She reached the QF of world championships for 8th consecutive year this time and she is the only women player to achieve this.

Sindhu secure another medal in World Championship with straight games win over Nozomi Okuhara ... I was expecting a long match, though this was a long match but despite slow starts in both games Sindhu recovered for winning it ... In the first game, Sindhu was down 2-6 and then 5-8, but from 10-all Sindhu took a lead and kept that for winning the game ... In the second game, she was again down 0-5 and then 3-9 ... This time also Sindhu fought back to catch Okhuhara at 11-all ... After that both players were neck to neck till 19-all and from here Sindhu won next two points for completing a win in an almost hour ... Next, she is facing WR #2 another Japanese girl, Akane Yamaguchi.

The in-form Kento Momota proved too strong for Sai in this match.

At TOTAL BWF World Championships 2018, Nanjing, China (Grade 1 - Individual Tournaments)

[QF] Sai Praneeth B. (IND,26) l (6) Kento Mmomota (JPN,7) 12 12-21

[QF] (3) Pusarla V. Sindhu (IND,3) bt (8) Nozomi Okuhara (JPN,6) 21-17 21-19

[SF] (3) Pusarla V. Sindhu (IND,3) bt (2) Akane Yamaguchi (JPN,2) 21-17 21-19

Thanks to Sindhu that we maintained our 9-year streak of at least winning a medal at the world championships or olympics every year.

Sindhu is really a big match player for us. Reaching 4 world championship Semi finals in last 6 years along with Rio final now should certainly take her ahead of Saina as our best ever badminton player.

It was also encouraging to see a dominating win over Okuhara for the first time since Rio SF. After that Sindhu had 3-3 record against Okuhara but all 3 of her wins were in close 3 games.

That gives good indication of Sindhu's form this week. Another tough Japanese coming up in the SF, Yamaguchi whom she lost to in 3 close games at All England last.

Back to back World Championships final for Sindhu ... The final will be Olympics final repeat against Spanish former WR #1 Carolina Marin.

In the semis, Sindhu defeated WR #2 Akane Yamaguchi in closely fought two games ... In this match also slow start for Sindhu as Yamaguchi opened 0-5 lead ... Sindhu caught her at 8-all and from 10-12 she won next 8 points to take 18-12 lead ... Sindhu kept that lead for winning the game ... In the second game, Yamaguchi took control in the beginning and was leading 4-8 ... She was looking in the control at 12-19 but Sindhu had a different idea ... Once again she made amazing comeback and won next 8 points and gave herself the 1st match point at 20-19 ... Yamaguchi saved that and had a game point at 20-21, but Sindhu saved that, 21-all ... Yamaguchi saved one more match at 22-all but Sindhu converted the third match point for an excellent win in 55 minutes.

At TOTAL BWF World Championships 2018, Nanjing, China (Grade 1 - Individual Tournaments)

[SF] (3) Pusarla V. Sindhu (IND,3) bt (2) Akane Yamaguchi (JPN,2) 21-16 24-22

[F] (3) Pusarla V. Sindhu (IND,3) vs (7) Carolina Marin (ESP,8)

Yes, brilliant comeback by Sindhu here especially in the second game from 12-19 down. 4 straight games in the last 2 matches, Sindhu has made comebacks from down against tough Japanese opponents whom she used to struggle against in such situations earlier. Just feel that Sindhu has taken her game a notch up this week. Lets see if it is enough against back in form Marin who looks eager to put behind her failures of past couple of years and create history to become the first women player to win 3 world championship titles.

Another World Championships final loss for Sindhu ... Marin repeated her Rio Olympics 2016 performance to win the title against Sindhu ... Marin used her all-attack tactics against Sindhu, which helped her again Saina also ... In the beginning, Sindhu managed to nullify and Marin committed lot of unforced errors ... Sindhu was leading 15-11 but after that it was all Marin's show as she won 31 points from next 45 points ... She caught Sindhu at 15-all and took 18-20 lead ... She converted the 2nd game point for winning the first game ... In the second game, Sindhu failed to challenge Marin's attacking game ... She was down 0-5 and 2-11 at break, so after that it was impossible task for Sindhu to crawl back ... Marin convincingly won the second game for her third World Championship ... Still, a really good World Championship for Sindhu as she becomes most successful Indian player to win four medals in this marque tournament, 2 silvers and 2 bronzes.

We can and must celebrate the fact that PV Sindhu inevitably makes the final of the big events -- World Championships and Olympics. The record she has built up through her career is fantastic, formidable and unmatched relative to all her female compatriots.
Now, the one thing she needs to work on is her temperament in finals. The noticeable feature is that she leads often in finals (until 15-x, sometimes 19-x) but cannot complete the job from that point. There is a mental issue here that somebody needs to help her with.
