Disappointing loss of Prannoy against Hong Kong's Cheuk Yiu Lee in the straight games ... Maybe Prannoy was tired after yesterday's long match but still poor result from his standard.

[R2] Prannoy H.S. (IND,11) l Cheuk Yiu Lee (HKG,53) 19-21 17-21

Yes, scheduling was bad for him. Prannoy posted this on twitter yesterday -
Finishes my first round at 11 30 pm and second round scheduled at 12 30 pm tomorrow

With that his qualification for Dubai Super series finals chances get affected.

I think fiercely contested nationals in the middle of the season has affected our players. This week Srikanth injured, Prannoy struggled from first round, Saina out in second round and Sindhu lost tamely in QF. Nationals should have been timed better.

I am not blaming Nationals timing, as Nationals dates were finalized after discussing with our top players, checking their availability.

That is true but the players might have been pressurised to play nationals. I am not blaming BAI alone. Players may be also at blame. Either way overall it has not benefitted our players.

Srikanth now pulls out of Honkong super series too and chances of year end #1 is gone.

Yeah, that I heard ... Feeling bad for him but an overall successful year for him and let's hope he will play in Dubai.

Kashyap won the final qualifying in the straight games against a similar ranked opponent ... Next, he is facing similar ranked Korean and Sindhu is facing a lowly ranked local qualifier.

Before that, Surprising loss of Satwik and Ashiwini in the first qualifying round ... Kashyap and Arjun-Ramchandran easily moved into the final qualifying round.

Win for Saina but defeats for Kashyap and Sourabh Varma to begin with. Kashyap had multiple match points.

Lucky break for Prannoy with Axelsen withdrawing after his run to the final in China last week which means Prannoy is the highest ranked player left in his quarter. I think even a SF appearance might not be enough (might need to get to the finals to reach the year end tournament) but at least gives him a fighting chance.
