Yes, a terrific win by young Satwik and Chirag ... Next' they r having another tough WR #2 Danish pair.

In the new updated ranking, as expected Srikanth is back in top-5 world ranking ... He is WR #4 and Prannoy is climbed to WR #12.

Prannoy scored the straight games win over his Danis opponent and next, facing Korean Jeon Hyeok Jin ... Sri is facing Chinese Yuqi and Sindhu is facing Yufei.

Results in detail.

Bad loss for Sai Praneeth. These are the matches you need to win if you have to move up. He has not been very consistent after the Singapore Open win especially in Super Series events.

Sai Praneeth seems to be going thru the same phase that Srikanth went thru in 2015, winning a super series title and then losing a lot. We will have to wait and see if Sai Praneeth has same kind of tenacity and talent that Srikanth showed in recovering from that slump.

Today, tough for Sindhu against the Chinese youngster to whom she lost last week. Saina could not overturn her last week's loss this week. Lets see if Sindhu can do the same.

I think too tough for Satwik-Chirag against world #2. But, they should play without any pressure as nobody is expecting them to win.

Quick revenge after last week's loss for Sindhu. I have not checked in details but her record against the Chinese must be phenomenal.

Against Sun Yu: 2-2, Li Xuerui 1-1, Yao Xue 1-1 according to the BWF site. Not that great.

If you look at the Wikipedia page for Sindhu, that record is until Nov. 2016. At that time she did not have a winning record against any of the Chinese. I don't know what it is now. Besides, the BWF record shows 2-2 now and Wikipedia shows 4-4 in Nov'16. There is possibly some error at the BWF site.

Damn, they lost 4 straight points from 17-17 to lose the game 17-21 and the match.

But, what a fight against world #2.

It seems Satwiksairaj would have become the youngest player ever from any nation to reach a super series doubles SF if they had won. It was not to be but he is certainly a superstar in the making.

KS with a repeat of last week with losing the first set tamely, winning a tight second 21-19 and then running away with the decider against the big Chinese prospect Shi Yuqi.

We have KS vs Prannoy and Sindhu vs Akane tomorrow.

KS guaranteed to be at a career high ranking of #2 next week. Sindhu will keep her #2 in all scenarios as well so next week, we will have the world #2 in both men's and women's singles :notworthy:

Prannoy needs to beat KS tomorrow to break into the top 10 for the first time.

Can't lose in the Prannoy vs. Srikanth matchup. However, hoping that Srikanth continues his rise all the way to #1!!

Srikanth has a very good chance to end the year as #1 if he wins in France given he did not play in any tournaments in Nov and Dec of 16 and Axelsen is defending a semis at the China Open and a win at the world superseries finals.

These 2 are the clear best two in the world currently but both still have question marks against Chen Long (if he is back motivated and fit) and the other member of their age group Momota who is on the comeback trail after his ban.

Lin Dan and Lee Chong Wei probably still have the odd big run in them as well.

We also need to start seeing emerging talent on the women's singles side. Players seem to be past their peak by ~26 (unlike the men) so we need to see some teenaged talents emerging now to have success post-Sindhu.
