Most impressive SS run by an Indian ever, even Saina never managed this.
Also what is extremely positive for the future are the wins in straights against two of his nemesis in Sai and Chen Long. The records are still lopsided but the mental hold is broken. Now Srikanth needs to do the same with Lee Chong Wei (0-4) and Tian Houwei (1-6).
Next major tournament is the World Championships with Ajay Jayaram, Srikanth, Sai and Sameer Verma going amongst the men. We are restricted to 4 participants so Prannoy will miss out.

This is absolutely stunning stuff from Srikanth Kidambi. Three consecutive Super Series finals…something that only 5 players have ever achieved before. And a string of terrific victories over all the world's best players. The only loss was in the Singapore SS final to his compatriot. The rest of the world is at his feet. WOW!!

Someone questioned the depth on the women's side so a good result to mention here.
19 year old Priya Kudaravalli beat #28 Taipei player in her home GPG. Let's see how far she progresses in this tournament.

Priya Kudaravalli lost in PQF to 67th ranked Taiwanese player 20-22 13-21. Still, this girl seems to have some promise as are couple of others ( Rituparna Das, Ruthvika Shivani) but it remains to be seen if they can rise up to the level of Saina and Sindhu or at least to the top 20 level.
Among mens, 17 year old Siril Verma also reached PQF and lost their a Malaysian. He will be in top 70 after this week which is good progress for a 17 year old. In badminton it seems maturing age is later and most of the top players are in their mid or late 20's or even early 30's. In BWF rankings, there are only a couple of under 20 players in top 25, Dane Anders Antonsen who is ranked 19 and Indonesia Jonathan Christi who is ranked 22. Hope Siril can reach that level in couple of years time.

The age thing is similar to other sports where man mature later and the girls break through by 19-20.sameerph wrote: ↑Fri Jun 30, 2017 4:57 am Priya Kudaravalli lost in PQF to 67th ranked Taiwanese player 20-22 13-21. Almost everyone in top 10 on the WS side reached a top 5 ranking by that age.
That said, even amongst the men, you do need to show potential by 22-23 as well.
Shi Yuqi is the best Chinese prospect and he is currently ranked 4th as a 21-year old. Srikanth reached #3 as a 22-year old. Axelsen was a top 5 player as a 22-year old.
