Re: European series tournaments Oct/Nov. 2016
Excellent win by Sindhu over the best playing Chinese at the moment.
[R1] (6) P.V. Sindhu (IND,8) d. He Biangjio (CHN,11) 21-14 21-19
Frankly after all the celebrations and all going around for a couple of month after Rio, I did not expect her to be ready for this tough match-up. But, she is right back at her best in her first match since return.

Excellent win for Sindhu.... This should be the quality of top level player's return from rehab... They should be at the top of their game from the word 'go'...

Wow this is a huge upset from Sindhu! She has been 0-4 against Biangjio over the last year and a half. She had lost to her in the Swiss, Indian and the Singapore open events before the Olympics. Great turnaround!

Not 0-4, it was 1-3 before yesterday. Sindhu did beat her in Malaysia open in April this year.VReddy wrote:She has been 0-4 against Biangjio over the last year and a half. She had lost to her in the Swiss, Indian and the Singapore open events before the Olympics.

Why is it an upset? She was higher ranked, and frankly it is high time to lay the Chinese bogey to rest. The rest of the world is not afraid of the Chinese any more, and neither should we.

Re: European series tournaments Oct/Nov. 2016
Well I missed her win in the Malaysian open and had thought it was 0-4 recent record. I called it as an upset because its not just about the ranking but also about the matchup of both the players. BingJiao is very skillful and deceptive in her shots - type of player that Sindhu used to struggle against. Also she is just 19 and is one of the likely top-3 players to come within an year or two (similar to Sindhu hopefully).indiansportsfan wrote:Why is it an upset? Re: European series tournaments Oct/Nov. 2016
Sindhu lost the first game 13-21. She was up 12-8 and seemed to be in command. But, suddenly Sato raised her game and Sindhu dropped hers and she lost 13 out of next 14 points.

Sindhu saves 2 match points and wins the second game 23-21. She seemed down and out at one stage but is still alive here.
