Re: Yonex Sunrise Indonesian Masters (Grand Prix Gold)
Nice to Kashyap returning from injury and winning a match but lost easily to Ajay in second round. A bit disappointed with performances of young players like Ruthvika Gadde and Siril Verma. Expected at least a better fight from them.
So, 3 Indian men are in last 16.
[PQF] (10) B. Sai Praneeth (IND,36) vs. (5) Tanongsak SAENSOMBOONSUK (THA,29) - First match
[PQF] (7) H. S. Prannoy (IND,31) vs. (12) HUANG Yuxiang (CHN,44) - Head to head 1-1 both matches this year
[PQF] (3) Ajay JAYARAM (IND,21) vs. Reksy Aureza MEGANANDA (INA,151)

Re: Yonex Sunrise Indonesian Masters (Grand Prix Gold)
Oh, the PQF's were completed today itself. I was thinking it would be tomorrow. Disappointing losses for Prannoy and Praneeth. These are the guys I am expecting to be near top 10 level by next olympics cycle. They should be winning the kind of matches they lost today. Such a close loss for Prannoy.
At least Ajay won this PQF.
[PQF] (3) Ajay JAYARAM (IND,21) d. Reksy Aureza MEGANANDA (INA,151) 18-21 21-12 21-19
Next,

Our men players most of the time fail to win against Chinese first / second / third ........ / n string players.

Re: Yonex Sunrise Indonesian Masters (Grand Prix Gold)
Chinese second string are all massively under-ranked because they do not get enough opportunities to play in ranking tournaments. Only real disappointment is HSP who has potential to be a solid top 10/15 level player.

Re: Yonex Sunrise Indonesian Masters (Grand Prix Gold)
In spite of Sindhu ' s performance at the Olympics India has actually regressed in badminton over the last year. Kashyap was out injured. The other promising men's players like Prannoy, Jayaram, Sai Praneeth and Gurusaidatt have fallen in rankings. No other good female player has emerged. Jwala and Ashwini are close to retirement. Only in men's doubles the situation is a little better with Manu and Sumeeth as well as Akshay and Pranaav improving. To make things worse, now Saina is injured.
