Great come back by Saina from 5-13 to 16-16 in the second game... She's picking her game up now...

Update: but gives away 4 points to be 16-20, saved 2 game points, but lost the second game 18-21...

On to the decider... :goodluck:

Update 2: Down 7-11 in the decider...

Tai was superb in the 2nd & 3rd sets with her deceptive game and wonderful drop shots and great control at the net. When she did that, Saina had no answer. But thankfully, Tai's game dropped at times which is which Saina scored. Saina needed to be% fit to counter Tai, which seems wasn't the case.

I felt that the Indian crowd was horrible. I couldn't concentrate on TV with all the noises, can only imagine how the players must have felt. Indians need to learn when to cheer. Maybe they did Saina more damage than good with all the shouting.

Sorry i thought no thread existed for SSF..
Between figured out this would be the last time we would be calling these BWF tournaments as Super series. BWF kissed Goodbye to this naming in 2017 and came up with a poor nomenclature for 2018 until 2021 . All tournaments are graded into GRADE 1 and GRADE 2 .
GRADE1 is World Championships , Thomas and Ubercups (any tournament with the word "World" preceding...since Thomas and Uber are World team championships they are GRADE1)

GRADE2 have further LEVEL1 , 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
GRADE 2 - Level 1 (Previously Super Series Finals)
GRADE 2 - Level 2 (Previously Super Series Primier)
GRADE 2 - Level 3(Previously Super Series)
GRADE 2 - Level 4 (Previously Grandprix Gold)
GRADE 2 - Level 5 (Previously Grandprix)
GRADE 2 - Level 5 (Previously Challengers?)

More on this..
India will only get Grade 2- Level 4 and 5 from 2018 which means we got downgraded from SS to GPG for 1 tournament and from GPG to GP in another

The categorisation is not done exactly like that. Only 3 of the 6 super series premier events have been categorised as grade 2, other 3 have been labelled as grade 3 along with 2 of the current super series events. 4 of the current super series events- India, Singapore, Korea and Hongkong series have all been put into grade 4 along with grand prix gold events in Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand.

I think they have done it based on prize money. Indian super series seems to be the one with lower prize money and therefore put in lower grade.

Mixed results for us. Sindhu won in 3 games but Srikanth lost in straight games.

Sindhu won the first match beating Bingjiao in three games ... But Srikanth lost easily against Axelsen, may be his lack of match practice hampered his performance.

With a second straight games loss in two days means Srikanth's challenge got over from this Superseries Finals.

Sindhu scored a comfortable win over Sato and qualify for the semi-final with Yamaguchi ... Now, winner between them will be topped this group.

Men's Singles - Group B
Kidambi Srikanth (IND,4) l Chou Tien Chen (TPE,7) 18-21 18-21
Shi Yuqi (CHN,8) bt Viktor Axelsen (DEN,1) 13-21 21-18 21-17

Women's Singles - Group A
Pusarla V. Sindhu (IND,3) bt Sayaka Sato (JPN,15) 21-13 21-12
Akane Yamaguchi (JPN,2) bt He Bingjiao (CHN,9) 21-14 13-21 21-8

Going to National championships immediately after multiple back to back super series spelled the disaster for Srikanth. An injury free run would have given him another SS and a SSF wins this year and he would have been easily the most improved player of the year awarded by BWF for this year.Former president of indian badminton association wouldn't have messed up with forcing players into nationals..Have to wait and see how much these losses will affect his morale, some players slide down just because of silly things like these.

Yes, regardless of this week, Srikanth had a fabulous year. 4 super series titles in a year ( with 2 back to back titles) is unprecedented. It is unfortunate than a nationals at an inopportune time led to an injury and subsequent withdrawals from 2 super series events and now this bad performance this week. Hope he comes back strong again next year.
