Wow, that's a very strong performance even in the loss. Yes, hopefully he can ride this form to move up the rankings quickly!

He will just inch above Kashyap as India's #1 again.

Unseeded Indonesian Simon Santoso pulled off a major shock when he thrashed badminton's world number one Lee Chong Wei to win the Singapore Open for the first time on Sunday.

The 28-year-old, considered a rank outsider against Malaysia's imperious Lee, upset the form book in style with an emphatic 21-15, 21-10 victory in just 48 minutes in the Singapore final.

Quite the shock. Wonder whether Srikanth had a bigger chance than we initially anticipated.

Simon Santoso may be unseeded and had to start as a qualifier for Singapore SS,but he is a former world number 3, who is on comeback trail after a back injury. He left out of Indonesian badminton association and competing as an independent player and won Malaysian GPG defeating Sourabh Varma in final and Singapore SS defeating Lee.Srikanth may take some more time to be in the same league.Between, I think its not a bad idea for some of Indian players like Kashyap, who excelled in 2012 but are now stagnating, to explore other options like trying Chinese or Indonesian Coaches instead of sticking to Gopi. Badminton is a very strategic sport where deceit, pace, variation all form a key role in outcome and a player can get as better as one can under a coach in 1-2 years and after that players better seek out for more advise from other coaches. Even Saina, Sindhu should explore new coaching!
