The first edition of the "Live the David Beckham Dream" Football Skill contest organized in 2010, Steadfast Football Academy was on a look out for the next David Beckham, a record of 1100 points which still stands in the name of this iconic Englishman (and recognized by FIFA) during his formative days at the Bobby Charlton soccer academy and was the benchmark for every participant to emulate. The hunt ended with the overall winner Wing Choy Chen being declared as the Champion scoring 640 points.

The second edition “Challenge the Champion” 2010 introduced a change in the format. The contestant had to challenge and better the record standing in the name of the Wing Choy Chen.

The events began with many contestants confident of beating the Champion. The crescendo to the event had built up over the week starting with the preliminary round involving more than 300 children from over 15 schools. The call for the day was combination of concentration, speed, power and finesse. And one boy stood head and shoulders above the rest, Wing Choy Chen of City International school, Andheri. The Championship was once again won by the current Champion Wing Choy Chen bettering his previous record with an aggregate total of 680 points, while six participants won Scholarship to train under Mr. Santosh Kashyap - AFC‘A’ license coach at Steadfast Football Academy.

The guests of honor for the grand finale was former India footballer & Air India Coach Santosh Kashyap, he not only gave some encouraging words for the participants but also emphasized the importance of academics along with sports. He gave away official Nike merchandise as prizes to the winners, sponsored by Nike. Wing Choy Chen was beaming from ear to ear when presented with official Manchester United Football along with recognition certificates. Freestyle footballer, Baldev, of Red bull freestyle fame enthralled the contestant and their parents with the ball control and tricks.

The participating children and their parents had a good time and we received a very positive feedback on the event held. At the end of the event participants were already making plans to be the next Football Skill Contest Champion.
