Sania Broke Misa to take early lead.

Sania serving at 2-1

Sania came from behind to save three BP's, from 0-40 to take the game.

Misa serving 1-3. Misa Holds, quite comfortably.

Nows the real test. Sania Serving at 3-2. She had to struggle to win her last service game.

As predicted, sania looses her service game quite easily.

I wouldn't call that a tame loss in a comeback match against a player who is very much Sania's peer in terms of ability.
Sania has to start winning these matches soon if she is to move up in the rankings. But I'm glad she showed sparks of a return to form (in the first set) after her long injury break.

OK, I was commenting in another thread about not having match updates ... Good to see that we are still doing that. Thanks krnix.

Good to see Sania getting some match pratice this week, but she really needs to step it up and do something in some of these matches.

She won the first set, which is encouraging. But lost the plot in next two.

To what PKBasu said, though a loss, it wouldn't have come as a surprise to many. Clay doesn't complement her game, rather blunts it. She will take some time to find her footing on clay. She won't be losing much points by her not doing so well on clay. Rather a couple of wins at FO and she would gain some.
I think it was a smart move by her to take a break coinciding with part of the clay season (where she wasn't defending much anyway) and get herself ready for the Wimbledon and the US hard court circuit.

Her achilles heel still seems to be the serve. In my view, the day she starts consistenly holding serve is the day she will start beating the top players.

On clay, the serve is not that important. Besides the serve is a lot better, and not the liability it was. Its the unforced, and more importantly the forced errors as usual. There would have been even more than usual on clay. I don't see her doing much on clay for a year or so. She is not helped by the fact that she has hardly played on the surface.

Nice to see Sania continue to win doubles matches. The match practice should help remove some of the rust from the months of injury time away from the circuit.
