Sania Mirza Tournaments ....

Post by PKBasu »

Oh no! I hope the injury isn't serious. Sania needs to rest after a very hectic couple of months. Recuperate first, then work on the few remaining chinks in her game and aim for top-10 by this time next year!!

From the on-site reports it seems Sania was heavily bandaged up around the stomach from before the match started.

Ohh no ... Not hoping her season get ended like this ... :(

From onsite report it looks more like ab-strain injury in end.

SKS -- I took the liberty of editing out a fellow moderator's post. Took out a line to prevent unnecessary discussion. Hope you don't mind! -- Jay

But Jay that was good point which Samarth raised ... Anyway u r the master, so agree with ur thoughtful decision ... :)

Jaydeep.

(True jaydeep - but as we have no info, I did not want a fellow moderator to be later accused of officially starting a rumor - while he did not have that intention. In SKS' pre-moderator days, I would have let it stay, but now his words have more weight you know :) - Jay)

She gets to rest up and train. I hope this injury that recurs induces them to rethink their strategy, play less, play better quality (more tier I, especially IIs if rankings allow direct entry) next year. Her play needs to be more spaced out to allow for recovery -- whether she is defending points or not. Even if she slips, if she is healthy she will get back in a very short time whatever point she loses, so defending points should not be a big concern.

I hope Sania gets better soon. Do you guys think she should play probably one more tournament before Oct end (assuming she recovers soon) so that she can catch up some points and < Top 30 ranking

It is unfortunate end to the glorious and incredible season. When she went for Aus open who would have thought that she would be 31 in the world by Oct. Great performances with great attitude.Injuries are part of this profession. She obviously needs good rest, without worrying if she will be seeded at aus open or not.She is going to be a major threat to the likes of williams and sharapovas if she takes care of her injuries and improve her mobility on court by reducing some weight. We can expect some bombshells from her next year.

Absolutely not!Forget the rankings. She has done more than what was expected for the year as it is.She should just rest up and get better soon. Her main aim should be to improve her fitness for next season.

I think she has already been pushing herself a bit too much as it is, by continuously playing and not allowing this ab-strain to heal.

I'm not surprised the injury occured while trying to smash. She does not get herself into a good position at all.She always looks awkward when smashing :frown:

No, there was no gossip from SKS.. He was just wondering aloud about something .. I thought it wouldn't help for him to wonder, that is all :)
