Huge CONGRATULATIONS to the Archery team for this signal achievement. This is one sport in which we have gradually harnessed our traditional talents and resources over the past decade -- and are finally reaping the results. (I thought I had written about this here earlier, but it appears I don't hit the "Submit" key!). At any rate by 2012, we will hopefully dominate the world and win another great triumph at Lord's, the site of one of our greatest sporting triumphs:

Mahesh wins the MxD title at Wimbledon with Mary Pierce.
It is his eight Grand Slam title -- not too many can say that.
(I know this is old news but it deserves a mention here)

Suresh,

(Thanks for posting about Mahesh. The Indian tennis fans occasionally take it for granted that Mahesh and Leander will win a Slam title. I am guilty of it too. Bhushan)

Thanks for that mugu. Is Merykom a woman (if so, where from)? I presume so, since a 46kg man is difficult to envisage (and I don't think we've ever won a world championship title in men's boxing; Merykom retained the title here: wow!).

Yes PKB, Merykom is a woman ... :) Her full name is Mangte Chungneijang Merykom ... She is from Moirang in Churachandpur of Manipur ... And this is her third medal at World Cup Boxing Championship ... 1 Silver and 2 Golds.
