Rajiv, congrats. That's wonderful. It always gives us immense pleasure to have forum members or their family share with us first hand knowledge of the sports. Please assure mom that her son will be fine. Best wishes to him.

Congratulations to you all, Rajiv. Although it is obvious how talented he is and how much hard work he must have put in to reach here, contribution from you and your wife is equally vital for him to get here. I am glad your sweat is bearing fruit! I wish him the best and waiting to read a report that paints a picture of how he hit Tymal Mills all over the park :)

Wonderful news Rajiv!! Congratulations to you and your wife. (Is your son playing tennis as a secondary sport too...?)
We now have an extra reason to follow this tournament, even if Yusuf Pathan has been kept out. Please tell us your son's name, so we know who we should be rooting for in Misbah's team!

Thank You very much Atithee,Prashant,Prashanthm,Sameeer,Vermaji,Suresh ,PkB  it is so wonderfull to read in the morning your kind words and wishes

Vermaji yes we all talk here so frequently about roles Parents play in the sporting development and let me tell you it is the most difficult especially for us Indians as for us Academics has also to be equally important and which I always explained the importance of both and Devang did manage to balance them, playing semi profressional in the UK and after his Graduation in Civil Engg he is now doing his  Masters in Infrastructure Development.

PKB, his name is Devang Bulsara  and he does play tennis but whenever I lob him his cricket insticts take over and instead of smashing he immediately drops his racquet and catches it like a well judged catch :D

Great stuff Rajiv. Here's a story from 9 years ago mentioning your son (and your name as his middle-name!) when he was picked to play for HK under-17s in the ACC trophy:

Wait... I just noticed that the fellow who hit the triple century hasn't played after that test. What happened? I didn't think triple centurions would get easily dropped from the team immediately. Is he injured or something?

Karun Nair's dad approved of his dropping, saying it is fair to do so! I don't know what your problem is, Jay? :p :p :p

It's fair to drop my triple-centurion son

On a serious note, I didn't realize it until you questioned, Jay. Even though I have only been following cricket superficially, I think it is very unfair to not give him a chance against Bangladesh. That is quite abominable. If Rahane needed match practice, he could have played in the warm-up before this test.

Let's see what our in-house experts have to say on this!
