The bigger mystery to be solved is how key players become uninjured before the IPL and injured before international matches. For most players I think IPL is starting to take precedence over World Cups and Asia Cups. They are starting to treat the World Cup as a minor event as there is no money to be made. This is similar to what is happening with the West Indies team whose players play in leagues all over the world but don't turn out for the international side.
Kapil Dev's "watan ke liye" days are shamefully over.

I do not work for free. These players may not have many more skills than being able to play cricket. If the players make their career's money from the IPL, that is the way it should be. They should prioritize it. There is no shame in that as much as there is no shame in not volunteering. Volunteering is a good thing and noble thing but it is up to the individual.

Kapil's folks did not have to make the choice and did not have the opportunity. If they had it, a lot of them would behave the same way. If we do not want people to be looking after their careers and families, then we should make international cricket an amateur sport like we used to have in the Olympics.

These guys work like hell to be where they are. They do not have time to make a living from regular jobs. They sacrifice their college education. And, okay, some are not very good at it either. So, more power to them. Go ahead and make money. I want the professional leagues to be longer and there to be more competition among the leagues.

Hats off to those who are planning their financial security. If the national teams want the players to play for them even when they are injured, they should set up the compensation structure accordingly and pay at the rate of the IPL, etc. If you cannot, let them die. Why can the national teams not get as much money as these T20 leagues? They have the whole calendar. Most of them are corrupt and the money is wasted in large amounts on the administrators, board members, etc. Good that they are being put out of their business by more efficient cricket leagues. No sympathy for them in my heart.

Nationalism is over-rated anyway. We are all human beings. Overzealous nationalism is what creates wars, the national socialists, Trump, etc. I have no problem letting it die.

Thanks for pointing out the exceptions. Most possibly go back to some menial job and live a routine life. (Not talking about the India stars)

Bigggest joke is the channel who owned all domestic cricket rights from BCCI is banking on retired cricketers and showing their games live instead of serious A team cricket series between India A & New Zealand A

They should sell the A-team tours rights and make money to pay the players and develop the game ...

Yep. Guess who were the players who also played the most number of games among those who even bowl close to the death overs (which means all medium pacers - Hardik) this year. Bhuvi, Harshal, Avesh, Arshdeep in that order. But that will not stop idiots from posting meaningless stats. That basically means that none of our pacers have been effective. Arshdeep has not gotten enough matches/overs. And he is slightly better. Bhuvi coming after Harshal and Avesh despite bowling at least 50% more than each shows that he has been at least able to contain things to some extent sometimes.

Also, the game has progressed such that (a) more and more runs are being scored, (b) this is the year where we played perhaps the largest number of T20Is, and (c) we have rested our ace Bumrah such that he has played only 2-3 matches out of 20 or so we have played. So, this is bound to happen.

The right way to do this would be to normalize this by the number of matches played in that year.

Why the team management is in jeopardy on inclusion of Bumrah. Is he hslf fit. Are they again planing to include half fit player in WC based on, like they did with Pandya and made it reason for defeat

Bumrah is clearly not fit. Otherwise, he would have played. Let us see how close he is to being fit. The question will be whether a semi-fit Bumrah is better than a quite useless (with the ball) Harshal. Harshal has bowled worse than Bhuvi at the tail (about 10.5/over to about 9.5/over). He is about #10 from the bottom of 30 bowlers who have bowled more than 40 overs or something like that this year. His ability to land yorkers, etc. is a myth. People see a couple of games and come to the conclusion. Like in the case of Umran or Avesh. However, he is not consistent at all. I'd rather go with Bhuvi and Arshdeep who has been one of the best in the limited chances he has gotten to close the end-overs if Bumrah is not available. Best is a fit Bumrah and a fit Arshdeep, assuming Arshdeep does not lose his form.

Except Bumrah( if he is fit ) & Arshdeep can't find any other pacers creating difference. Way Bhuvi is getting smashed back to back matches against full strength opponent its tough to rely on him. His pace has dropped, natural swing is also missing, knucle bowl becoming predicatable and shooting yourkers are going for wide, his fielding also raising question. All these activities are seen from him over last 1 year since 2021 T20 WC.He is no more a go to man for the team. Harshal is what you called IPL dada, depends on pitch to perform. He will cost the team i flat batting decks. Want to see Deepak Chahar & Shami in these 2 spots. Can't see Bhuvi, Harsal doing well in Australian tracks. South Africa T20s and 2 more against Aussies are vital for final stamp in the WC squad which. As per ICC, changes can be made till october 15. NZ recently made changes to their squad after they declared squad a months ago

After watching Mark Wood's spell against Pakistan, its clear 150+ kph pace bowlers are lethal in T20Is, only adjustment is bowling in correct line. Track in which Wood bowled is just like Australian with spongy bounce and bouncers at 150+ in Australia will be a wicket taking delivery. Dravid & Co. should think again, every team in this T20IWC has got one pacer who can bowl fast, in subcontinent tracks it can be a problem but in Australia it may turn match winning options.

Think there is enough batting with Wade being in red hot form. Certainly for Aust wickets.

Cummins is not half of the bowler in t20s or limited overs cricket in general compared to tests but he can adopt better than most and could make a difference (remember the penultimate over vs Pak in the semi last year or even today when he started bowling cutters to the wicket)

Wood is simply one of their best T20I bowlers. Pace is very useful if you can keep it right at the toes. Or sudden bounce. And then vary the pace, etc. All of these are skills that need to be learned. In short, Wood is a good bowler. That does not mean that we can get the next pehlwan and ask them to hurl the ball if your medium pacers are getting hit and they are, and hope they will be successful. Let us hope we can unearth a bowler who is a bowler first and can also bowl at pace. Whatever be the case, we should stop this stupid hype that Harshal can bowl well in the end overs. I'd marginally prefer Bhuvi to Harshal. We should go with Arshdeep and Bumrah as the closers and hope and pray that Bumrah gets his form and fitness back and Arshdeep does not go astray and his initial start is not a small-sample-sized fluke.

Unearthing 150+ kph bowler isnt an issue. There is plenty at club level, domestic level. Work needs to be done after the talents get unearthed. Unless proper fast bowling coaches are appointed at grassroot level this talents can't continue and comeout as products. Need a special avoidance to bowling coaches who suggests to cut down pace for maintaining line & length, they can be disastrous to these new 150+ bowlers.Big example is Umran Malik, he looks destroyer with Steyn as coach for SRH in IPL, moment he played India under Paras Mhambrey, he started getting thrashed. Bharat Arun is so far better coach way he improved Siraj was something great and indian bowling reached heights under his tenure. Wouldnt prefer Bhuvi or Harshal for bowling tough over. Bhuvi is now tested and failed against full strength sides back to back. Deepak Chahar would be good option but keeping in mind the bounce it will be better to go back to Shami else there is no option at present
