Re: South Africa In India 2022
Totally unacceptable…. They want to rest these top player but allow them to play IPL rather than the International series against a top team.Rajkumar Sharma wrote: ↑Sat May 14, 2022 5:50 pm As per PTI report, Selectors to give rest to all senior & regular players. You need to play your best 11 in all International matches and prepare them for the World Cup as a team.
How does Pandya even qualify to be in the Indian team.

Re: South Africa In India 2022
I think resting the seniors is fine. There are two problems though—a couple of them need to be rested forever. And, asking Dhawan to lead. Pandya has earned a consideration as a leader. As the first T20 World Cup proved, and the current IPL is proving, this format doesn’t care about big names. If you have the right attitude and skills, which are aplenty in India, you can be quite successful. I say go with a bunch of no names. I think the seeding for the World Cup, if it is used, has already been decided.

Re: South Africa In India 2022
From this SA T20 series our road to T20World Cup 2022 will begin
Issues which needs to be sort out
1) Top 3 ( KL, Rohit, Rahul) struggle against left arm pacers. Dhawan is now back at the top and his chances are quite high to get selected in WC squad
2) Shreyas vulnerable against bouncers, SKY need to show more consistency with the bat specially when team is down with early wickets. Hooda is also there as batter who can bowl after giving impressive performances in IPL
3) DK is nearly cemented his spot as wicket keeper with finishing role, and none could challenge him in this spot at present. Selector needs to put end to Pant-Kishan- Sanju's miserable show, these 3 are in same room as per performance is measured
With Dhawan back at the top, KL could be thought of as n.o 4 and back up wicket keeper. Saha - Jitesh Sharma also can't be ignored
4) It will be Jadeja against Krunal Pandya for the spin bowling allrounder option. Both can also get picked. They will bat at lower order keeping momentum with run rate will be required from them
5) Hardik Pandya as allrounder is required. Deepak Chahar & Thakur are other probables. Chahar can be very much usefull in Aus condition as he brings swing and also can bat. Pandya, Thakur needs to provide wickets in middle overs.
6) Ravi Ashwin, Chakravarthy, Jayant has no role in Aus with white ball, as finger spinner gets fully smashed in white ball in Aus tracks. So, Chahal, Kuldeep & Bushnoi
7) Need fresh Shami & Bumrah. Bhuvi might not get picked. Eyes will be on Umran, Harshal and left arm quick to add variety to the attack i,e Natarajan, Arsdeep....Wont be surprised if Mukesh or Mohsin makes door breaking entry to the team

Re: South Africa In India 2022
Happy to see selector didnt pick the squad based on IPL limelight. Umran is very much lucky to find a place with such less domestic matches. Same goes with DK, experience & IPL gave him the place, was not there in Syed Mustaq Ali trophy

Why exactly are we playing Bhuvi? We know what he can give us. Try the youngsters and if they are better choose them or else go back to Bhuvi.

Re: South Africa In India 2022
Team was selected only based on the IPL performance! They have probably continued to trust players already In the team irrespective of their poor performance in the past IPL ! IArshdeep Singh bowling average in 2021-22 SMaT was 65 and ER wasRajkumar Sharma wrote: ↑Sun May 22, 2022 12:19 pm Happy to see selector didnt pick the squad based on IPL limelight. Worst among punjab bowlers! Kishen should definitely not be in the team!
Pant should have been rested! Pant if he plays should ideally open in white ball cricket, he just does not have the ability to play in MO! This bunch of selectors seem clueless!
Our MO will continue to be our bane! Ideally Rahul should drop down the order and let Pant open! If Hardik gets injured, We will probably have 4 wicket keepers In the playing 11 ! KL, Kishen, Pant, DK. Probably shreyas Iyer and Hooda round up our batting unit

Still 35 domestic T20 with 45 wickets @ average of 23 isn't bad enough. Arsdeep has back to back IPL performances, so he comes into the team both for domestic & IPL Stats. Umran is in the team without domestic but because of IPL as he has got a skill which is very much new to Indian Cricket. Among the keepers, Pant, Kishan, Sanju none of these three deserved chance. Saha & Jitesh were ahead among them & DK because of experience & performance he is in the team. Since, Dravid is coach Sanju, Kishan & Pant will get more chance to prove themselves just like V Iyer
Surprised with Dhawan not getting picked. Rohit, Rahul, Kohli struggles against left arm pacers. They might give Kishan a long go as 3rd opener in T20Is

Re: South Africa In India 2022
Really asinine selections again by Chetan Sharma and company. The most standout player in this IPL, Rahul Tripathi, wasn't selected. He must feel very disheartened, what more can he do? Also selecting Ishan over Shaw, and also selecting Venkatesh Iyer and Bhuvi does not make any sense, when there were better choices available.
I feel there must be Dravid's hand too in these selections, he is very conservative in his thinking and we cannot expect any turnaround in our fortunes as long as he is at the helm. I am expecting another disappointment in this year's T20WC.

Re: South Africa In India 2022
Pant should surely have been rested. By playing him non-stop, we are going to burn him out, just like we did with Pandya, and that short-sightedness has hurt us badly.

Re: South Africa In India 2022
Pant's career is all about red ball cricket. He has done nothing extraordinary in white ball cricket to get rest, a lottery player, very much lucky in getting support from senior players, ex players and selectors. Doesn't know on what basis he is captaincy material and got that VC tag. 24 odis 32 average, 43 T20I 24 average. Is indian cricket think tank standard going down who thinks him as future leader ? Havent found anyone in indian cricket history who had raised so much hype in getting captaincy with 24 & 32 average in shorter format cricket in last 10/20 yearsindiansportsfan wrote: ↑Mon May 23, 2022 12:58 am Pant should surely have been rested. Pant, Ishan, Samson all are in same hyped bucket as per shorter format performance is concerned. Jitesh Sharma, Saha has performed much better then all these three but since no one is there to talk about them they are neglected.
