62 runs partnership between Moeen & Willey costed too much. Prasidh always had fielding issue, he dropped many important catches even in IPL

May be yes and Pant is one of them, he is brainwashing selectors and fans in shorter format performance by covering his knocks of test format.Since, the retirement of great MSD this has been the story, everyone thinking he will perform like test in shorter format, which is heaven & hell difference from the longest format. Unless KL starts keeping in odis with Dhawan doing well in opening spot, don't see Pant's slot is trouble as selectors have nuetralized chances of Samson, Kishan from odi format

I didn't show middle order winning games for India consistently after retirement of Yuvraj, Raina. All have been riding when top 3 is scoring.

Biggest non-performer in ODIs is Pant in this batting lineup after Shreyas was already shelved. And Jadeja with the bat. Both are getting reflected glory from their superb test performance in the last few years. Wouldn't mind chucking these two out and revamping the team when Rahul is back.

Re: India in England, summer of 2021
All these things are happening because their competitors haven't got enough stage to put them under pressure. Sri Lanka A side played Pakistan A & England lions. England lions played Aus A, NZ A, Sri Lanka A and now SA A side and sadly BCCI havent organized A tours and Emerging side ventures post covid, they are busy with IPL growth not thinking about development of performers. Committee of Administrators appointed by honourable SC was doing great job in developing domestic cricket giving them proper stage to proof. Ganguly Shah regime has been IPL biased

Prasidh Krishna is not using his skills, he is tall can hit upto 145 kph, still bowling boundary over every ball, he needs to expose the English Condition. Needs drastic improvement in fielding

Re: India in England, summer of 2021
Urgently need a coach who can teach indian top order batter how to play left arm pacers Since T20 WC to England Tour 2022 left arm pacers is destroying top order like a fun. Should have brought an extra batter Shreyas Iyer in place of Prasidh.Hooda would have been ideal, don't know how 55+ average odi batter doesnt get picked for odis. Odi cricket demands one or two utility cricketer at the top giving some bowling services.
VK needs to wear Delhi Jersey again, thats the only way he can be back like all other greats did in past.Kapil is GOAT, he means what he says, media is just raising it as controversy for their publicity

Re: India in England, summer of 2021
Pant is doing his job today though...
EDIT - And he went berserk after I said that. Hit a 6 and 6 fours in the last 13 balls he faced and finished with a 125 not out!! We won.

Sharma ji, ab khush hain? Are you happy now? Hope the Pant bashing will stop. There’s hardly any precedent of such cavalier chase by India after being in doldrums. Of course, Kaif-Yuvi comes to mind first. Maybe another couple, but what Pant did today is masterclass.

Re: India in England, summer of 2021
This is the definition of chutzpah! From cricinfo commentary:
Angad: "Haha! Brilliant! England. Ring Root to have a last go at Pant after dismissing him in both innings of the test match and Pant signed it off with the same shot that got him out in the test to show who is the boss "
42.1
4
Root to Pant, FOUR runs
Full outside off, and Pant finishes it off in style! Reverse sweep, sweet connection off the bat, and beats short third man! India win by five wickets and win the series 2-1!

Re: India in England, summer of 2021
I think I have this sixth sense to pop in when something unusual is about to happen. I was following a match after months!
Here are the details of the last 12 balls when he scored 35 runs to go from 90 to 125
39.5 6 Willey to Pant, SIX runs - Moves into the nineties! Pant has absolutely walloped this ball. In the slot, on middle stump, Pant gets low and muscles a slog to the cow corner crowd! Down on one knee, perfect technique to get the elevation
39.6 1 Willey to Pant, 1 run - Full on his pads, and nudged to the deep on the leg side for a single
40.3 • Overton to Pant, no run - Length ball on off and angling into Pant. Cramped him for space slightly. Tucked from near his armpit to the keeper's right
40.4 2 Overton to Pant, 2 runs. Out on 97? No, just over midwicket! Overton bowls a short ball, and the around-the-stumps angle cramps Pant. Goes for the pull anyway, and has sliced the shot. The ball teases Willey at midwicket, but juuuuuust goes over him
40.5 1 Overton to Pant, 1 run - A maiden ODI century and he pulls from outside off to deep square leg. Jogs across, and the crowd is on their feet even before he completed the run. The helmet is off, he raises the bat. His team-mates smile too.
41.1 4 Willey to Pant, FOUR runs - Swatted down the ground Back of a length, outside off, and Pant flat-bats a hard shot down the ground to long off for four!
41.2 4 Willey to Pant, FOUR runs - Willey tries to angle the ball into Pant to cramp him, but the batter was expecting that after the wide-ish ball in the previous delivery. Quick to swivel, even quicker to smack the pull for four behind square
41.3 4 Willey to Pant, FOUR runs - Hat-trick of fours! Willey adjusts again, goes full just outside off, and Pant absolutely hammers a cover drive for four. Truly a "tracer bullet"
41.4 4 Willey to Pant, FOUR runs - Ingenious! Willey goes back of a length on middle. Pant shuffles across to the off side, allows the ball to get near his shoulder, and then plays a cute paddle to fine leg for four more!
41.5 4 Willey to Pant, FOUR runs - Five fours! And this is the quickest of the lot! Willey offers a slot ball on off, and Pant lambasts the ball straight down for a boundary to long on. Well done Jadeja for moving out of the way! (Four needed. Can Pant hit a sixth four?)
41.6 1 Willey to Pant, 1 run - Goes full, slightly slow on middle. Pant cutely tucks a flick off his toes to square leg and keeps the strike.
42.1 4 Root to Pant, FOUR runs - Full outside off, and Pant finishes it off in style! Reverse sweep, sweet connection off the bat, and beats short third man! India win by five wickets and win the series 2-1!

Re: India in England, summer of 2021
No question in his skills but consistentcy is the biggest issue in Pant. You don't know when he will fire and when he will flop, can't play the game like that.He is still a lottery, unless he shows maturity like 3rd odi innings in every game, 247 in Lords was also chasable if he has showed some maturity and paced his innings. Same goes with SKY, after great T20 ton he has been found no where in Odis.Atithee wrote: ↑Sun Jul 17, 2022 5:19 pm Sharma ji, ab khush hain? Are you happy now? Hope the Pant bashing will stop. Re: India in England, summer of 2021
Next 50 over WC is at home, so team needs to follow 2011 WC winning model. Needs some guys in the middle order who can bowl like Yuvi, Raina, Shewag or Yousuf and give allround strength to the side. Prasidh & Siraj gone for plenty, specially Prasidh required to improve his line length & fielding. England Odi & T20 model looks best for shorter format plenty of bowling & batting option, this is the model India should take in building shorter format team.
