Spin will be crucial in the second innings. We’ll miss Ashwin.
The Mayank LBW “looked plumb” to the commentators too until they saw the replay — and Rahul advised against reviewing it

What a match for Rahane: 81 and 90*!
Vihari too has cemented his place.
Meanwhile, Karun Nair (the forgotten man) has piled on the runs in the Duleep Trophy.

Rahane has made the most of good fortune.
Dropped in both innings and lbw wasn't reviewed in the second.

Amazing to see an Indian quick uprooting the timber repeatedly. Bumrah, what a talent!

Re: India in West Indies 2019
Bumrah had a rare off day in the first innings, but was back to his best in the second — and that is usually too good for most opponents! He is averaging less than 21 in tests, Marshall-like, although only having played 11 tests so far.

Easy win in the end, but the batting has developed a few holes. Hopefully Mayank and Pujara will find form in the second test.

Re: India in West Indies 2019
I hadn't noticed that Ashwin played 3 county games for Nottinghamshire (where Stuart Broad was his team-mate), and was in absolutely spectacular form with the ball (23 wickets in 5 innings) and pretty decent with the bat, top-scoring in a couple of innings and second-highest scorer in another. I don't know if the team management and selectors are even aware of this!

Re: India in West Indies 2019
I do not know how much finger spinners can win us matches abroad. We have a quality wrist spinner. This WI team has a weak batting side and we have three top pacers in form at this point. We need to play Kuldeep. That would be sound forward thinking and planning. Like we are playing Pant who is clanging quite a few but we need to have him play. Ditto for Kuldeep. But, of course, I fully expect Jadeja to be playing this test. There is even talk about Ashwin. I have nothing against them. They are competent against West Indies in West Indies. But, for the next Australia tour, we need to plan now. And that means play with KY (ahem ) in the team.

Re: India in West Indies 2019
Kohli has gone from the greatest converter of 50s to 100s, into struggling a bit when it matters in the WC and this test series.
I like the idea of wristies abroad but Kuldeep is a bit of a mental midget.

Bumrah gets a hatrick. What a bowler. For those of us who lived through the tough days of our spin reliant teams of the past, the quality of Bumrah, Shami and the rest is unbelievable

Re: India in West Indies 2019
Astonishing test fifty for Ishant, who has really worked on his batting over the past year (especially during his county stint last year).
Bumrah picks up a hat-trick, building on his growing legend! And he quickly completes a 5-for, as Windies slump to 22/5.

Re: India in West Indies 2019
Bumrah has 10/17 in the last 12 overs he's bowled in this series! The first innings of the first test seems a distant memory...

Bumrah's test average is below 19 right now.
Never thought we would see an Indian quick with a sub-20 average.

Fast. Inswing. Outswing. Devastating. I have not seen any Indian fast bowler bowl this dominantly ever.
