Dhoni is so far going fifty -ish , sorry we have a better phrase for it, Gavaskarish strike rate
I got a feeling that WI wicket keeper is missing Dhoni stumping intentionally. Hope missed it twice ! Any thoughts?

At least some decent work by Dhoni at the end with 16 off the last over. 268/7 in 50.

Gavaskar was 60ish. But then so were Greenidge, Haynes and other openers of that time except Turner. Btw, when he finished playing he had the second fastest hundred in the world cups which of course was his only ODI hundred. It was different era. And that is why Viv is still the greatest in my book.

Hope team management noticed two missed stumping chances WI missed before he compensated in the end, any decent team reaching elimination won’t miss such chances.

Bowlers do their job again and bundle out WI for 143. Our bowling has been top class so far in this world cup. That has been of help in hiding our weeknesses in middle order batting.

This win is going to eclipse several weaknesses india has which will come out when india needs to chase any decent score. If team management is serious about winning the Cup then they need to think out of box and come out of age old paradigms like winning combination should not be changed etc...K L Rahul , VJ Shankar and Dhoni played horrible today just like they always do. If team management still thinks it’s risky to lose this baggage at least they would be better advised to change the batting order depending on situation. If they don’t they will lose on the first instance they need to bat second, it doesn’t matter whom they will be playing with, it could be Bangla also

Surprised that Kohli rather than Shami got the MoM award today. Kohli was the dominant batsman on the day, but the first two Shami wickets were terrific (In a total haul of 4/16). How do you miss MoM honours with that sport of performance?

Against England on Saturday, India should play Pant or DK at 4, Pandya at 5, Dhoni at 6 and Jadeja at 7.

Torn between England and Pakistan on I would prefer to be out of the last 4 stage since I would not like either of those countries to advance further. Would be great if SL or Bangladesh can come through. If we beat England, perhaps we can play our bench against Bangladesh and SL...

Between the piddly island and the bug country, don't even try to pick. Whichever lowlifes make it, make it. We shouldn't care

Let's hope SL can beat SA tomorrow.
They have been our only consistent friends in cricket and would like them to qualify.

By asking to play our regular squad with England and our bench against Bangla and SL you seem to imply that we need to take it easy against them so that one of them can scrape through to semis but i think this recommendation would work exactly the opposite to the intention.
Our mainstay is Rahul, Shankar, Dhoni, Shami and our bench comprises DK, Jadeja, Pant and Bhuvi. Now do you want to repeat your recommendation ?

Dhoni played well today. If he was out, we would have had Shami. We have to credit Dhoni and Rohit when their plan works, i.e., stay at the wicket and score at the end. We should blame them if that risky strategy fails. We did not get to 275-300 because of failures by Vijay and Kedar. Shami is a very good bowler. But, we need someone among the four to focus on their batting. It is crazy that even after several years, they have not improved a bit. Seems like the team management does not care about their batting and does not tell them to do anything. Just like Shami's fitness improved when he was read the riot act, they should work with them on their batting and read the riot act.

SA beats SL.
So, now England with 8 points, Bangladesh and Pakistan 7 each and SL with 6 with 2 games left for all. SL needs a lot of luck though. It has to win it's 2 matches against India and WI and hope that England loses both, Bangladesh beats Pakistan but loses to India. Looks like Pakistan still has the best chance among these 4 teams make it to the SF.
