Re: World Cup 2019
Some days had two. The long WC is because of the league format. Have two groups of six teams each. And, then have a league if you will. Or double elimination.

Re: World Cup 2019
Do any of you check cricinfo.com just for the bullshit that they write during the commentary? A sampling from just the last 10 overs of the IND-SL match.
"...languidly drilled through the covers! Elbows so sharp they could take out your eye, as he presents a full face on a full length, and cashes in!"
"...potted through third man like a snooker cue!"
"...just back of a length, jagging in off the seam and blocked with a hop on the back foot"
"...pumped out to point, a violent swing through the line with very static feet"
"...flexes his knees, lowers himself like an elevator to the ground floor, and skims the thinnest of ramps over the keeper's head!"
Haha... I don't even know what some of those words mean!

Re: World Cup 2019
India cruising towards victory and SA marching towards a 350+ (hopefully) score which the Aussies will find it difficult to chase. I prefer a Ind-NZ semi-final which is becoming more and more likely.

Normally the best case outcome but conditions are expected to be overcast which brings Boult into play

Re: World Cup 2019
NZ is a pretty good team however given how the tournament has gone beating Eng and Aus in succession would have been a tough ask for us ; hopefully we play well and secure a spot in final.. Lords will offers some assistance to bowlers so playing strong batting line ups of Eng or Aus might be comparatively easy vs on the 50m boundary grounds ...
Re: World Cup 2019
India got just 2 days of recovery time for semis while England got a full week but if we can pass that hurdle we get more time for Finals

Re: World Cup 2019
The met report says that it will be cloudy and chances of short drizzles are there. So chances of DLS coming into play. For a washout, let's see:
So, what happens now rain washes out the match scheduled for Tuesday between India and New Zealand?
Unlike the league stage, the semi finals and finals have a reserve day. The teams will then meet on Wednesday for a semi-final clash. This brings us to the next question—what happens if it rains on Wednesday as well washing out the match? India will then qualify automatically for the final on the basis of points in the league stage.

Can Pandya continue to bowl his remaining quota with that injury? If he doesn’t who will bowl his remaining overs?

Re: World Cup 2019
Chahal did not perform very well in the most important match thus far. And, Bhuvi did not take wickets. Otherwise, NZ would have been in bad shape.

Re: World Cup 2019
This is a little bit of bad break for India if the remaining overs aren't played out in the NZ innings as I don't think NZ would have made much more than 250-255 in 50 overs.
Compared to that making 237 in 46 overs or 223 in 40 overs seems like a tougher ask than if we played the full 50 overs. Let's hope NZ get to bat their remaining 3.5 overs and we get our full quota of overs to make the target.

Re: World Cup 2019
I don't remember such problems back in 75, 79 and 83 when we had world cups in England. Were the dates and scheduling better, or were they perhaps easier because of fewer matches?
