Good innings by Manish and Karthik. Going by their records, we have Kohli, Manish, and Rahul (and Mandeep) averaging over 40. Then the 25-30 range has Karthik, Rohit, Raina, and Dhawan in that order. Actually, Karthik and Rahul have over 140 SRs. Given his relative performance, Karthik should be given more chances in T20Is only as long as he is not dropping too many catches.

Among the medium pace bowlers the best performers have been Kulkarni, Bhuvi, Bumrah, Thakur and Unadkat, with the last two being expensive.

Shiraj bowled some crap. Sundar is arguably the best off-spinner in T20s in India now. I would bring back Unadkat for the finals instead of Shiraj. He does not seem ready and prepared to keep a cool head. I would love to see Sundar and Kuldeep playing T20Is together. But, I guess we will go with Chahal because he spins the ball the other way from Sundar.

Fantastic innings from Raina. I like it that he can go for big hits from ball one. Raina's innings was the main difference.

All the backup "pacers" in these series have been terrible and in particular Siraj (economy rate of 12.5 in IPL so not sure why he was even selected) and Unadcutter who can also bowl one kind at trundler pace.

Vijay Shankar has proven to be a very reasonable 5th bowler though mostly containing. Unfortunately, we haven't seen neither him nor Sundar bat.

Chahal has a couple of things going against him - he gets flustered quite quickly when someone attacks him successfully (see his form since Klassen gave him a battering) and that both him and Kuldeep are ineffective if it is a wet game.

Given WC19 is in England, we can't afford both spinners being taken out of the game by weather conditions. I think Sundar will get a chance in England in ODIs in the summer.

Unadkat has been slightly more of a wicket-taker and Shardul has been more economical. I wonder what their splits are with respect to right-handed and left-handed batsmen. Shiraj has been totally crap. In England, Dhawal Kulkarni could be a handful.

Washington Sundar was excellent.
He should be a regular as he can bat and field too.
Siraj maintains his economy rate of 12+ per over in T20 Internationals.
Can’t better it even against Bangladesh!!!
India favourites in final against either teams.

There was me thinking no one cares about a useless tri-series and the Lankans and Bangladeshis end up having a fight over it!

Every match counts. For Bangladesh, this may be one of the few tournaments where they have pipped a "bigger" team to be in the finals. (I know they knocked us out and got to the quarters in one of the WCs or something like that.)

This Indian team has been called young. I wanted to see how young.

Old: Karthik, Dhawan (32), Raina (31), Rohit (30), Manish (28)
Young: Sundar (18), Pant (20), Hooda (22), Siraj (23), Axar (24)

We have four over 30 players. Manish has been there for some time but is not that old. We have Sundar and Pant among the really young and then the youngish Hooda, Siraj and Axar. The rest middle-aged. So a tad young but not really all greenhorns.

I think the media is using "young" when they want to actually call it a B-team.

Yes, which is why I wanted to check the distribution. Of the young, only Sundar in the XI.

Our pacers have bowled crap. Don't know why Raina was not tried for a few overs. Vijay Shankar is quite pedestrian with the ball. Over 5 matches he averages 51 at 9 runs/over. Hope Pandya is back soon. The other two are not far behind. Unadkat at least takes wickets. He redeemed himself in the last over he had. His career of 10 matches is at 21.5/wkt @8.68. Thakur is at 30.25/8.8 in 7 matches. The good work by the spinners were undone by these three except Unadkat in one over. I guess when the regulars are back (Bhuvi, Bumrah, Pandya) we should have Unadkat as the reserves and move on. All of these are small samples. So, if any of these folks do well in the domestics, they can be back. But, what they have shown initially is pretty bad except Unadkat's wicket-taking, I guess.

The spinners did superbly in the final -- Chahal particularly, but also Washington Sundar. The pacers were awful, with the slight exception of Unadkat.

Rohit and Rahul are quickly putting the match beyond Bangladesh's reach, but we need one of these batsmen to stay until the end.

Manish Pandey is single handedly losing this match.

I would rather have none of these guys as the backup but instead give chances to the likes of Saini, Thampi in the shorter formats.

India in more than a spot of bother, at 98/4 in 13.2 overs. Time for Pandey, Kartik and the rest to stand up -- and Shankar and Sundar to demonstrate their batting ability.
