I don't see us beating SA but making the SF where we will play Australia. Winning the SF will require our players playing out of their skins.

SA vs WI match was a no result, so WI now have one point more than us. We basically have to beat SA in the last match now. SA has already qualified for the SF.
England beat Pakistan easily, so they are even on points with India, with a lower net run rate. England will beat Bangladesh in their final match for sure, so all the more reason why India HAS to beat South Africa to make the SF.

England has actually has slightly better net run than India. But, is a very marginal difference and will not matter in the end.

It all boils down to 2 matches on Sunday now. India vs. South Africa and England vs Bangladesh. If both India and England win then both will be thru to SF, but the team which wins with a better margin will avoid Australia in SF and meet South Africa. If we lose against South Africa, we can go thru only if England loses to Bangladesh by a wider margin than us.

Yes, that draw between SA and WI due to bad weather was relatively unlucky for us. Now, if we beat SA we are in and perhaps SA does not have too much motivation as they are locked in to the 2nd seed. If SA had beaten WI, we would likely have qualified even with a loss to SA (as we would have had a better NRR compared to the other 6 point teams - WI and NZ).

However, if we lose to SA, we are almost certainly out unless England loses to Bangladesh.

Wouldn't mind that at all! I think we would get in over WI with our better NRR. While we run into Australia, we ran them close in our match, so there is no reason that we couldn't beat them in the Semis. Getting in is the key step right now as we are also quite capable of losing to SA and missing the semis.

I hope it's a low slow pitch for SA match.

We notch up 274 batting first against South Africa. Pretty good score. Decent chance for us now.

In the meantime. England has a big 100 run win against Bangladesh and are thru to SF. We will need a bigger win than that to go ahead of England and end up in third spot.

Couldn't defend 274. Deservedly being dumped out of the tournament. Recent losses to NZ and Australia showed we were a fair bit off the top teams.

Farcical no ball at the end summarized our performances. :damn:

Even with a great start couldnt score 300, and puncuated by poor fielding, crucial dropped catches , field setting, bowling changes and then the Pinnacle of all :A Spinner bowling a no ball at the most crucial life and death moment of the match… ….

We beat Pakistan and Pakistan returned the favour by beating windies… we actually were fortunate even to be in contention… and finally luck ran out for mediocre performance.

We lost to NZ because of our batting. Our team is fragile.

I think all the old mares should bid good bye. Time for younger ones to take over. We have good talent.
