What a waste of 8 overs from him.... Just, totally, released any pressure on batsmen that was created by 3 maiden overs that Zaheer started off with!!

63 runs in the final 5 overs of powerplay and SL manages to set up a challenging target of 275. Probably 15 to 20 runs more than what it should have been....

Sehwag and Sachin will get back on field in 15 minutes, possibly hungry, whether for runs or for food, or both, we will know in a short while! :)

Sreesanth destroyed any chance India had of pressuring. Each time India lost a wicket, Dhoni brought him back, and he kindly eased the new SL batsman in. And he fields considerably worse than Nehra & Munaaf. What a wasted chance. I hope this dude does not play for India any more. I don't mind guys getting hit in the final powerplay by Mahela. But Sreesanth was just disastrous at all times.

I hope India can pull this off, but I have gone from 40-60 before the game to 20-80 now. It all depends on Sehwag.

Sehwag is an idiot! Too much pressure on the batsmen now!

And since he didn't have an edge, he should have consulted Sachin before going for an unsuccessful review of his LBW decision!

SL is clearly in top - last 5 overs (powerplay, no less) Ind has scored 9 runs for 1 wicket!

I don't mind Sehwag *playing* the way he does, because more often than not it helps. But I do mind the stupid immediate referrals when he is clearly out - that is just hubris. The reviews are a valuable resource in the game & should be used wisely.

By the way - were any of you watching the toss? Did Sanga really cheat & get a re-toss or is the BBC making that up? Match started at 4 AM my time, so I woke up just in time for the first ball & missed the toss.

9 overs left to score 52 runs. Clearly IND is ahead and Dhoni has played a big part in this recovery ( apart from Gambhir, of course). Cool, Sachin will retire after all, after having won the ODI world cup!

Wow... what a win.. .And Dhoni made all the right moves while batting.. bringing himself up in the order was a master stroke... This guy is definitely captain cool... and India's best captain...

and in last one year, he has won including the IPL (and didn't CSK win champions trophy also)... Definitely man with midas touch

btw, Moderators, you got to change the name of this thread to indicate india's win

Wow, we are finally world cup winners after 28 years. This time we were the favorities and the best team whereas last time the West Indies were the dominant team in the world. This is truly the golden period of Indian cricket.
