Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)
Not really. If you have been the worst spinner in the last decade wrt runs/over, you are the worst spinner in the last decade in T20Is wrt runs/over. Nothing changes that.
None of the backups were given 10-15 matches, the minimum required to figure out the international game when Chahal kept failing after failing and got chances because of his domestic prowess.
If management does not have faith in trying different things in the face of a colossal failure and keeps turning out the failure, then the management is composed of a bunch of idiots.
He is without doubt great in the domestics. Until we learn that some people are great in the domestics but do not cut it in the international arena, we will keep losing at the crucial matches.

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)
Krunal Pandya has worked hard in his bowling. He looked to be more successfull as wicket taking spinning option then their premiere spinner Bishnoi in LSG . Few good innings with the bat, he is definately going to replace out of form Jadeja in T20Is. Krunal was man of the match in one of the T20I games in Australia in 2018 series. His way to Indian team is looking definately open now.
Sikhar Dhawan might be also in contention for T20I return.Few more performance can raise the confirmation. KL & Rohit T20I opening has been average, specially against the left arm quickies they have been horrible. After T20 World Cup, everu team will include a left arm quickie to hurt India early.Dhawan has good record in Australia and India need to set a left right combo in T20I opening to neutralise expose done by left arm quickies .

Wriddhiman Saha proving to be GT's secret weapon as opening batsman in T20s. Could he be on the flight to Australia in October? He has competition to be Pant's #2 from Sanju Samson in particular, but more distantly also DK.

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)
Yesterday Rahul, Miller, Rashid could not hit 9 runs in 6 balls that too against Sam’s on a batting wicket and then a bowler of Bumrah caliber gives away 48 runs is very questionable..

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)
Kohli & Bumrah deserve good amount of rest. Both are looking tired. Duo should skip England Tour, WI Tour and back as fresh in Asia Cup . Shami's workload should also be kept in mind
Should go with Shami, Siraj, Umesh, Saini & P Krishna for one off test against England. Siraj, Arsdeep, P Krishna, Avesh Khan, Bhuvi Kumar for England & WI Odis. Umran Malik, Arsdeep Singh, T Natarajan, H Patel, Avesh Khan for England & WI T20Is.

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)
U need to win the england test! So can’t drop Kohli and Bumrah, but would not play them in White ball cricket
Would our selectors have courage to drop Rohit and Kohli
Mohsin kHan has been amazing this year! His bowling average is 10.6 and ER is 6! Could he be consistent enough to be find of this year IPL?

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)
Every team is targetting Shreyas Iyer with his weakpoint i,e short ball. He has to come out from this, else its impossible for him to sustain in international cricket. It seems he just can't play the short ball getting out 10 out of 10 times.
Archer, Wood is going to expose him badly in upcomming tour of England for the shorter formats.

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)
80% of the top experts thinks both of them have played enough and now their body deserve rest. England have struggled in Test and our bench strength is quite strong.Selectors should take the gamble else we have to take tired playing in T20 World Cup Australia just like it happened in 2021 and the team got exposedKumar wrote: ↑Sat May 07, 2022 5:49 pm U need to win the england test! Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)
So, now that about 2/3rds of the matches are done, here are the batting leaders (by SR, qual: 307 runs):
Tripathi 39@165, Samson 32@156, Rahul 46@140, Gill 35@137, Tillak Varma 37@136, Abhishek Sharma 30@132, Hardik 38@132, Hooda 29@131.
Good to see Samson, Gill, and Hardik in some sort of form. Rahuls have been very good. Tillak Varma is the new kid in town. As is Abhishek Sharma. Hooda holding his end up.
Tripathi is 31 and has been reasonably good over multiple IPLs. He is a hard hitter. Maybe worth a look in the A-team?

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)
Umran Malik, Arsdeep, Kuldeep Sen, Mohsin Khan, Mukesh Chowdhury has impressed in IPL. But their domestic stats isnt good enough to give them national team Jersey. Except Yash Thakur, none of them are there in both IPL & domestic

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)
The Indian bowling leaders (qual:10 wickets, by average):
Mohsin Khan 10.9@5.19, Chahal 15.7@7.5, Khaleel 15.5@7.75, Nata 17.82@8.65, Avesh 18.25@7.96, Umesh 19.06@7.15, Kuldeep 20.66@8.71.
Interestingly, three left-handed pacers here. Shows that Indians largely have a weakness against left-armers. Two right-armers Avesh and Umesh. And, two spinners Chahal and Kuldeep. Mohsin has been phenomenal but small sample size. Hope he continues to do well. Nata has been expensive and Kuldeep has been over the top expensive. I do not think this Kuldeep can be in the T20I team. Hope he recovers his form and learns how to keep things tight.
Send Mohsin to the academy and in the A-teams. Khaleel with him. Or Khaleel can be brought back for the RSA T20Is to see if he has improved. Avesh deserves more chances. Maybe Umesh too.

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)
Indian top 3 ( Rohit, Rahul/Dhawan, Kohli) which is considered as best in the world has always struggled against the left arm pacers in ICC Events
Jhonson in 2015 WC, Amir in 2017 CT, Boult in 2019 WC, Shaheen in 2021 WC. Beside these, best ones also struggled against Mustafizur, Sam Curran and most recently by Marco Jansen

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)
Rinku Singh and Rahul Tewatia have remarkable power-hitting/finishing ability. Rinku just fell short last night.
Mohsin Khan was brilliant again. Bowled the fastest ball of the night (151mph) and also took 3/20. He is an extremely clever bowler as well.

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)
I’ve often wondered: with a rare exception or two, generally our fast bowlers are all Muslim. Is it a coincidence? Or, diet, gene, etc. Any theories out there?
