Our Women's cricket team reached semifinals. It is going to clash with NZ in semis. Another semis will be played between Aus and Eng. How good it will be if it is Aus vs IND finals.

Today Indian women facing NewZeland counterparts in 2nd Semi Final of Women's World Cup ... NZ won the toss and asked India to bat ... India made 204/6 in stipulated 50 overs ... Main contributors were Indian captain Mithali Raj and Anjum Chopra ... Both put 66 runs partnership for third wicket ... Anjum scored cautious 44 runs after loosing both openers cheaply ... Mithali played another entertaining gem of the inning when needed most and remained not out on 91 in 104 balls with 9 fours ... From NZ, Rachel Pullar had best bowling figure with 10 - 2 - 39 - 4.

C'mon gals make it India and Australia Final ... With score of 204 India posted their highest score of the tournament to date and r in strong position of making their first World Cup final.

Exciting finish ahead in the Women's world cup semifinal, with India still in the driving seat.

India Women 204/6 (50 ov)
New Zealand Women 150/7 (40.1 ov)

New Zealand Women require another 55 runs with 3 wickets and 59 balls remaining. India needs those wickets...

Congratulations to the Indian Women! I wonder whether the final will be shown on TV??! (I've never watched a women's cricket match from start to finish, so it'll be interesting to do so in a final like this).

Mitali Raj, India's 22-year-old captain, is probably the Don Bradman (or at least the Brian Lara and Viv Richards combined) of women's cricket. She has a test batting average of 78 (and holds the world record for the highest individual score in a women's test match, 214) and an ODI batting average of 48+. Today, she made 91 not out. WOW Mitali!!

Skipper Mithali Raj seems to have hurt her knee while fielding at midoff. We definitely need her to get fully match-fit before the final on Sunday. She will go into the final with an ODI batting average of 50.11, and we will need her to do better than her average....

Hey, the Australian Women's captain, Belinda Clarke (35 yrs old) seems just as impressive. She is the only cricketer (male or female) to score an ODI double century (229*, albeit against Denmark!) and has an ODI batting average of 49.81.

i know it sounds off topic :Offtopic:

but doesn't it sound obvious that we should have a thread for womens cricket for every reason we started this forum.

if there exists a thread in this forum i apologise for me going off topic

Pls put forward ur thoughts espeacially the sie moderators

these women are doing gr8 and making us as much proud as sania, harsh, gaurav or arjun atwal.

somebody has to glorify mithali raj's captain's knock in semi final of world cup.......somrthing lacking only recently in our mens team captain

best of luck for them in the finals

Women are doing great, but starting a thread? There sn't much going on in women's cricket that we start thread. If the tournaments go on through out the year it would have been a good idea. Well, let us see whta other forum members have to say?

Agree with Sandeep ... No diferent thread is required for Women Cricket ... We always discuss about them in this same 'General Cricket thread' and we will continue that.

"Who is after John Wright?" is the hot topic currently discussing in Cricket World ... Wisden Asia Cricket magzine having superb article on leading contenders curiously all r Australians ... :)

I thought that women's need some attention too. In India in team sports women's don't get much attention in this site.

So I have basically made this thread to give you the news that Indian women's are doing good in a test match against England adn they are in command.

http://www.hindu.com/2005/11/23/stories ... 092000.htm

If you guys didn't know then our women's cricket team was also runners up in the cricket world cup which just took place.

They lost to Australia in the final by 98 runs.

Guess what the test between India and England ended in a draw. Though India played very good but still it was a draw. Good effort by them.
