We don't. But, I'd rather we give a chance to Yashasvi instead of Patidar. Usually, sub-50 Indian domestics have not done well internationally.

Yashasvi should get picked as opener, he should never take the position of a middle order unless there is no options are available or all the middle order performers fails.

That is fine. But, I'd rather pick both Yasasvi and Gill, with one opening and the other at #3 and sunset Pujara. Rohit, Kohli. Then, Sarfraz. Jadeja is the all-rounder. We need to get a better keeper-bat. Of course, newcomers have a longer rope than Gill, who should have a shorter rope because he has had a lot of development time and needs to deliver now. We can and should be more patient with newcomers.

Utter madness to be playing first class cricket in late-June and early-July. It will either be baking hot, or the games will be washed out by monsoon rains. Of course, if they are day-night games, that will make a bit more sense. Also reasonable if the matches are to be played in cooler, elevated locations like Dharamsala, Bangalore and Pune.

@sharmaji, are there any good prospects in north east zone? If not seems like a team that others can feast on?

Most of the performers are from plate group, we can't rub them away as the legend MSD played enough cricket in plate group. We have to give some time to get quality cricketers from NE Zone, which we should get as these regions provide international winners in other sports

Why can't the Northeast Zone play the Duleep Trophy as part of East Zone? Dividing the zones makes them weaker and the whole Duleep Trophy becomes more meaningless. The diluted Ranji Trophy makes selections based on evidence hard to come by. If we want to beat Australia, we have to learn from Australia. Small number of teams, quality tournament, identify top players and develop them. Great injury science institutes and solid planning. Until we do these, we cannot compete against them in tests. This random BS of diluting every tournament will do more harm than good.

In Indian condition anyone can smash and score runs against SENA. Gill should be in domestic side and play more A tours, till then Easwaran & Panchal should open for India in test

Considering that zonal based Ranji system iis already dead, why should Dileep and Depdhar trophy have zonal system. Dileep trophy have 4-5 squads consisting of top 60-75 players .

Announce 4-5 captains and selectors for those teams and have them draft players out of the selected pool. Make it mandatory that Indian players especially batsman , bowlers recovered from injuries, and slow Bowlers must play this tournament. If it is a 4 team tournament, just play round robin and declare table topper as winner. This way there are just 6 games.

Do this for Deodhar trophy as well.

^^ Kumar, but that would be logical, right? BCCI, and perhaps the regional politics will never follow logic. There used to be some limited overs India green, red, etc. games.
