In the second "test" against England Lions, Abhimanyu Easwaran made 117, his opening partner (and skipper) KL Rahul made 81, while #3 Panchal made 50. Karun Nair is batting on 14 at the end of Day 1, with India A finishing on 282/3.
I hope the selectors are paying attention to the fact that Easwaran is making a massive case for himself. (That Prithwi Shaw's injury is lasting this long is a growing worry, by the way).

India A won the second "test" by an innings and 68 runs, with Saini (the Delhi pacer) taking 3/30 and 1/25, Jalaj Saxena 2/10 (in 10 overs!) and 2/40, but 21 year old Punjab legspinner Mayank Markande took 5/31 in the second innings to finish off the English. Markande has a first class bowling average of 21 after 7 matches. Talent is just oozing out of Indian cricket.

The Irani Cup match ended in a draw with Vidarbha needing just 11 runs to win outright with 5 wickets in hand. Vihari bowled a long-hop (his first ball of the innings) that Vidarbha's Ganesh Satish pulled into deep mid-wicket's hands, and the match was immediately called off. I find this bizarre. Why did they end after one ball of that over? If they had completed that over, Vidarbha may well have made the 11 runs needed for an outright win. Of course, Vidarbha won the Irani Cup nonetheless, but why not end the match properly??

An article on Kamlesh Nagarkoti's rehab -- you might recall he was one half of the fast bowling pair that won us the U19 World Cup in Australia.

I hope he can do a Cummins and come back stronger and better.

Also, he has batting potential so hopefully he is working on those while he has been out for so long.

Panchal and Easwaran failing in tougher conditions in the second test against SL A.

Anmolpreet Singh, K Bharat and Rahul Chahar with some good batting.

I think if you look at the abroad splits, Umesh Yadav is crap abroad. We need Ishant there. Bhuvi has played only on favorable wickets abroad. He may not fare that well when we are talking about wickets without much assistance. Ishant has become less wayward when bowling these days. I am almost tempted to see what he can do in ODIs if any of our top three break down. He should be better than Khalil, who is possibly our #4 and better than an umpteen number of others whom we tried.

We need a left arm seamer. Khaleel or someone else. This guy needs to be able to bat — just block when needed or play proper shots consistently. This message needs to be drilled into any aspirants. I’m not happy with Bumrah either in this regard but he gets a pass. He is Bumrah after all. Don’t know what happened to Shami—he used to be able to club a few fours and sixes regularly. Not any more.

I’m ok with Ishant for tests. But still not a fan of him that I used to be after “that” spell to Ponting and that tour of Australia in general. He does not think. Keeps running on to the danger zone on the pitch repeatedly, no balls is still a problem, poor fielder, forgot how to bat, etc.

He does think and bowl better lines and lengths these days. And, he has been able to block off famously for several innings. So, he is not totally useless in test matches. The rest of the criticism is fair. The no balls are really madenning. Wrt fielding, I have seen him make some effort but we need better.

Yes, Khalil needs to improve. I do not think he should be given a spot unless he proves he is capable. Until then, we need Ishant in tests.

Our best 3 pacers are Bumrah, Shami and Bhuvi in all formats. Ishant has been very good in tests over the past year, but picking him ahead of Bhuvi is still a bit unfair. If we are playing four pacers in the Windies (not likely on today's pitches there), Ishant should play, otherwise not.
