Re: T20 World Cup, 2022
Kishen had around 14 matches.
U make great points and agree with it. And also KL for Pant probably is the best fit. Pant appears to be caught in two minds when he is playing in T20. The strategy against him is to bowl wide of the off stump. Hopefully he can figure it out. He is no where being closer to being a good finisher .
If Pant is playing , he needs to play as opener. May be KL can come in-as finisher.

KL taking the gloves and playing at the middle order will give more option to the team.

Re: T20 World Cup, 2022
Rahul is actually slower when he opens but bats great in the MO wrt SR. Thanks for the data about Kishen. So, it should be that Karthik has to produce in the next tournament. Or else, he should not be taken to the WC if we have other better fits. Iyer?

Re: T20 World Cup, 2022
This is the line up i foresee.. even here, I don’t think KL will be played in MO and he will probably flip with Sky.
Rohit, SkY, kohli , Pant, , KL, Pandya, Jadeja, shardul or Chahar(if fit), Chahal, Bhuvi, Arshdeep or Harshal
Substitutes Hooda (potentially in olace of Jadeja when line up is left heavy, but will leave our bowling little weak), Shreyas Iyer / DK
If Chahar is not fit, we could potentially see someone like Avesh Khan making it . Not sure if Shami is in our T20 plans. If he is , he probably makes it toplaying 11

Re: T20 World Cup, 2022
Seeing this two heavyweight teams it can be guessed the importance of player giving services both with bat & ball downunder in T20WC
Aussies have Marsh, Stoinis, Agar as allrounders.
Can ball Maxwell, Tim David, Steve Smith.
Can bat Cummins
English team has Stokes, Moeen, Sam Curran as allrounders. Cam ball Livingstone.
Can bat Willey, Woakes, Jordan, Rashid

Re: T20 World Cup, 2022
I would rate Maxwell as more of an allrounder than Agar. I do not mind including Agar but in T20Is, Maxwell is certainly a very good allrounder.

Re: T20 World Cup, 2022
Risabh Pant has got so much backing 58 T20Is with such poor perfotmance getting picked in WC with reason, as India has no left handers after Jadeja. Its a shame, We organize best T20 league in the world and can't pick a quality left hand batsman had to include a proven failure in the team
Zampa, Rashid, Fawad, Boyce wrist spinners ruling in Australian tracks https://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engin ... ype=trophy
And we have picked two finger spinner in WC Squad

Re: T20 World Cup, 2022
This is a shameful team. No amount of performance by Iyer, Bishnoi, etc. was enough to disentangle the so-called established guys: Pant, Karthik, Chahal, who have not performed for a long, long time. Anyway, hope these guys finally put up some fluke performances and we bring home a cup.
Wrt DLC vs Harshal, it is an interesting choice. Harshal is more of a wicket-taker but more wild. DLC is more restrictive and less of a strike bowler. Both can bat but DLC is perhaps better.

Re: T20 World Cup, 2022
Ashwin since his comeback in T20Is havent done anything to be included in T20WC. Infact Ashwin's spin will have similar effect like that of Hooda in Aus conditions.Hooda has the added advantage of batter who can bowl off spin. Ravi Bhisnoi should have been there instead of Ashwin

Re: T20 World Cup, 2022
Well, I will just quote the great Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan. Everyone is entitled to their opinions but not their own facts.
Here is Ashwin's line since his return to T20Is
What you are saying is true. Wrist-spinners do better in T20Is than finger spinners. So, yes, I would have preferred a Bishnoi. But, in place of the hapless Chahal.
Here is Bishnoi:
But, Ashwin can bat a bit better. And, has been batting faster more recently in the IPL etc. So, both deserve to be selected. We are very reluctant to cut our deadwood.
Oh, and wrt wrist-spinners vs. finger spinners, left-handed batters vs right-handed batters, left-handed bowlers vs right-handed bowlers, etc., absolutely, we should look at the situation and choose wrist spinners. But, when we do not have good wrist-spinners, we need to go back to good finger-spinners rather than bad wrist-spinners. When we do not have bowlers who can bowl yorkers and bouncers and contain the batters, we should go with the bowlers who sometimes are useful for other reasons. When we do not have left-handed batters, instead of going to the renegade Pant, we should actually reward either the Tilak Varmas or go with good right-handers such as Iyer, etc. That is the point. Blindly creating quotas for wrist-spinners, bowlers who bowl yorkers, left-handed bowlers and batters is useless if these people are poor cricketers. A right-handed SRT possibly played leggies better than a left-handed Hrishkesh Kanitkar. So, we need to consider player quality too --- not only single features such as left-handedness etc. That is where our selectors went wrong. They felt the need to get a left-hander and choose a dud who has not been that good.
Here is Ashwin's line since his return to T20Is
That is a fabulous bowling record. I do not know what more we want from him. You want him to get wickets at 9 runs/wicket and bowl at 3 runs/over in T20Is, really?Mat Inns Overs Mdns Runs Wkts BBI Ave Econ SR 4 5
10 10 40.0 0 244 14 3/20 17.42 6.10 17.1 0 0
What you are saying is true. Wrist-spinners do better in T20Is than finger spinners. So, yes, I would have preferred a Bishnoi. But, in place of the hapless Chahal.
Here is Bishnoi:
Slightly better than Ashwin wrt average and a whole run/over more expensive than him. Both played 10 matches. Ashwin always completed his quota and Bishnoi almost always did. The truth is perhaps that Bishnoi possibly bowled more overs at the beginning and at the end than Ashwin, when people go for more runs.Ravi Bishnoi 2022-2022 10 10 38.4 0 274 16 4/16 17.12 7.08 14.5 1 0 4 0

Re: T20 World Cup, 2022
Among the top 7 nations (no Afghanistan, West Indies, or Bangladesh), the results are that there is also an overwhelming advantage of winning the toss in T20Is. Here are the numbers:
In the meantime, let us hope that Rohit is practising the toss day in and day out at the NCA.
Someone was saying that Dubai was very skewed towards the team batting second. Here are the numbers:
Only in Sri Lanka, New Zealand, Australia, and England do the toss winners actually lose more! Good that the WC is in Australia this year.
This is a huge advantage. At least a 32% more win to loss ratio. This looks very bad for the game. It is more of a factor of luck than skill. That is not good. T20Is should be such that it should be played in two innings of 10 overs each. One team should bat first and last and the other team bats two innings in the middle. Or something like that to even the playing field. I do not exactly know what will work.Teams Span Mat Won Lost Tied NR W/LDescending Ave RPO Inns HS LS

Re: T20 World Cup, 2022
I think toss should be done away with T20! Let us play T20 WC using the T20 world rankings and play knock out maches.
Rankings will be used to determine the opponent. Knock matches should be best of 3 with the top seed winning the toss the first game and lower seed the second game. If the series is tied at end of 2 games, let the top seed win the toss for decider or let the NRR between two teams decide the toss winner for decider.
IPL should follow the same pattern.home team wins the toss and the finals are best of 3!
Playing T20 as a single game final-winner is stupid
