Still, a good run for Sania after such a long break from professional tennis.

Shuai Zheng is also in singles final, which is played right before the doubles final. Hopefully she gets extended to 3 sets to maximize Sania's chances for what would be an wesome comeback title.

Absolutely remarkable achievement to make her 62nd final on the WTA tour (possibly including ITFs; the figure is from Imran Mirza, her dad and coach). That she is doing this in her first tournament in 27 months is simply mind boggling!

Only impressive or even being tracked in India. Elsewhere, hardly worth a mention. Even Woodies etc. are barely even talked about as they were legends of tennis doubles. Fleming/McEnroe etc. were others. Martina in doubles etc. Mixed doubles is another such thing. Only in exhibition tennis types and slams.

I had said when she was some 18 years old that I would shave my mustache if she were not to make the WTA top-10 in doubles.... One of my best predictions. I never had to shave it. Maybe she will get back in there again, and help me keep my mustache once again.... But I also realize that I have no mustache and have never had one

Sania/Nadiia are a set and a break up in the final. Serving now at 6-4, 3-2.

Wow, what a comeback. Did not expect her to get into her stride so soon on return.
On to Australian open now.

Amazing comeback after a longish-break!
Proud of you Sania and she will be back inside the top-300 doubles rankings.

This was a really stunning performance. Nadiia isn't a particularly strong partner, ranked only 37 with a career high of 35. The Chinese pair is very strong on paper. Zhang Shuai is the reigning Australian Open doubles champion (winning last year in partnership with Samantha Stosur, who incidentally played in Hobart too). Peng Shuai is also a Slam doubles titlist (one title each at FO and Wimbledon). Beating such a strong pair is truly an astounding performance in her comeback tournament.
