Sania-Martina lose the plot after winning the first set, after that French girls proved too strong for them ... Still overall good performance as they managed three wins in a row after two months.

Doubles Final
(1) Sania Mirza (IND)/ Martina Hingis (SUI) l (2) Caroline Garcia (FRA)/ Kristina Mladenovic (FRA) 62 16 6-10

According to initial reports, Sania and Hingis are splitting up. Sania has entered the US Open with Vandeweghe, while Hingis is due to play with Strycova!

Why are they splitting up ? They are still at number one in doubles race with a good lead. They could have got rythm back in US hard court circuit. Sania should rathar play with mattek if lucie sets her free ?

Another Leander-and-Mahesh-alike story, this time on the women side? Does that mean that skip Singapore as well despite they have been that dominant this year again (or do they have to play Singapore together anyway by WTA rules?)?

Sad news indeed. Perhaps they will still play at Singapore together, since they have qualified. But I presume Sania is looking to the longer-term, given that their results have fallen off in recent times.

Sad news. Barbora is having a good run in Singles this year having had her career best finishes in singles in both AUS / FO. Not sure how much of a priority would doubles be for her

Sania and Hingis are pretty level headed. In addition, Sania is at the top of her game so, I am pretty sure she gave a serious a thought and weighed all her options (in getting Strycova's commitment) before signing up with her. Hingis' strength was her anticipation and a very smart tennis brain. Hopefully Strycova will bring something new of her own to complement Sania's strengths.

Sania-Martina have confirmed (on FB) that they will be playing together at the WTA Finals in Singapore this year, defending their title (and Sania's two consecutive titles) here.

I think it is a good way to recharge batteries for the world #1 pair -- who appeared to be sputtering in recent times after peaking at the start of the year. If the new pairing with Strycova works out, they will continue, otherwise rekindling SanTina is always a possibility.

Great scoop Vatsal (2 days before the world heard about it), with all the right names. But Vandeweghe will play with Hingis, and Strycova with Sania. Let's see how they fare.
