Sania Mirza Schedule 2009
If there is already another topic on this, please delete this. Or else let me know and I will delete it. After the Aussie Open, Sania is the last direct entry at the Pattaya Open in Thailand. Sania, go deep. Are there Fed Cup engagements too?

Sania injured again
Check out this DNA interview

Could you tell us about your abdomen injury -- the nature and seriousness of it?
There is a three centimetre tear in my abdominal muscle, which has been very painful.
According to the doctors, it had the potential to get serious if I continued playing. They have prescribed a week's rest for me and are confident that I should be back as soon as that heals.

Re: Sania Mirza Schedule 2009
Sania is fit & is leaving for Bangkok on Monday to play in Pattaya Open. She is almost certain to get a wild card for big Dubai WTA a week after that.
So, next couple of weks will be cruical for her.
Go Sania.

Re: Sania Mirza Schedule 2009
The alternative to Dubai will be the Memphis tournament. The week of 2/23, there is a tournament in Acapulco (clay), followed by Monterrey, Mexico. So, a Memphis-Acapulco-Monterrey(hard)-IndianWells-Miami-PonteVerda,FL would be an option for a lot of players. Sania, of course, will not play all those weeks consecutively.

Re: Sania Mirza Schedule 2009
Sania is not in the Fes, Morocco entry list (starting the week of Apr 27) it seems.
The next week, at Estoril, she was 15 out of the main draw that ended around #77. So, it seems a tough climb. If she wants to play there, she has to play the qualies. Maybe then it makes more sense to play the qualies at Rome (again if she can make it to the qualies of that tournanment; should be by last year's rankings).
The week after that there is a premier event at Madrid. There are no other tournaments. So, making the qualies may be tough. Maybe she should play the qualies at Rome if this is a week off for her.
The week after that she would most possibly need to play qualies at Warsaw again.
Then, is the French Open.
So essentially a bunch of qualies, wherever she wants to play in the future unless she gets wildcards. But, she already got two this year and perhaps will not/cannot get many more.

Prasen:
Do you know if there is a limit on the number of Wildcards she can get per year. I am hoping she performs well in Charleston (she has to beat Venus for that) and that way her ranking can improve and she wont have to play too many qualies. Are'nt the ranking to weeks before the tournament that determine the entry list? I think that is true.

Re: Sania Mirza Schedule 2009
Sania has chosen to play at $100K challanger in Romania starting May 4 instead of playing qualies at Estoril. This would be first challangr level event she would be playing in 2-3 years. But, IMO right decision to get to play more matches on clay.

Re: Sania Mirza Schedule 2009
She should have entered next week's Johannesburg Challenger 100K +H as well for some easy points considering their entry list is really pathetic. Main draw from 127 to 458.
At Romania, she will most probably be the second seed behind Jelena Dokic.

Re: Sania Mirza Schedule 2009
sania isn't there in the latest entry list for challenger in Romania. what's happened? has she gottan a WC or entered quali in one of the other? or, is she resting this week as well to play three consecutive weeks starting from next?

Re: Sania Mirza Schedule 2009
well, Sania is neither playing in Italy nor in Estoril. I think she should have played in fes as well as in one of this weeks tournaments because if her ranking drops just a week before French open it will be tough for her to get direct entry.
