Yes, this is the news report -

Sania-mirza-to-pair-with-martina-hingis

It was quite obvious that this was coming. I wonder why they could not figure out this ad court- deuce court mismatch before pairing up in first place. But, glad that they took the decision before it is too late and their respective rankings fall too much.

The last I heard was in February when she said she was hoping to be healthy enough to play in the French Open.

When I last checked with Imran in February, her jumper's knee was still painful and required another two months of complete rest. But there is a second problem -- a bone spur that may need surgery (which she is determined to avoid). The bone spur was much better by February, so it seemed at that stage that it would indeed be possible to avert surgery -- and the "jumper's knee" pain was the remaining issue.

I will check in again with Imran. My hunch is that Sania will not continue/resume her career if surgery is required (i.e., if the bone spur has flared up again).

Yes, Imran told me a couple of days ago but requested that I don’t make it public until they make the formal announcement — which they have done now on FB.

Congratulations Sania!

She won’t be back on the pro tennis tour for at least a year, as per Imran.

Wow  congratulations to the mom to be and dad to be and their families. Wish Sania good health , loads of happiness and a healthy baby.
Hopefully the baby picks up a tennis racket and a singles Grand Slam for India one day. :p

But now who will win us the Asian Games Mixed Doubles Gold.

I seriously hope she makes a comeback next year and doesn't give up the sports, she deserves a proper retirement.
Lots of women have made a comeback after pregnancy, in tennis, I remember Davenport, Williams, Clijster and recently Azarenka.

Want to see Sania play atleast till Tokyo 2020, she deserves to win an Olympic Medal.

That depends upon her motivation and fitness.

Heartiest congratulation Sania.

Would be very surprised to see her back on court but let's see what happens. A year is a very long time in tennis.

Yes, Imran Mirza had also been posting photos of Sania practicing in preparation for a comeback. Starting now makes a January 2020 comeback quite viable. Sania will turn 34 on 15th November, so she isn't too old to be playing top-notch doubles.
