She will be losing 35 more points next week.  If the others maintain their points, she will drop about five more spots to #65 next week.

Sania already fallen to 92 this week. Any idea where she will be by the end of this year? Also wat are the rules regarding injury protected rankings? Will it benefit her?

You need a 6 month injury break to qualify for injury protection. That is not an option. Jay

correct me if i am wrong, but the wta site suggests that Sania has 65 points to defend for the rest of the year. If she fails, she would be out of top 100.

There are 4 weeks of tennis left...or else she needs to play challengers...

either way she would get a direct entry in Australian open before which we need not expect any results

Surpeisingly, there has been no news at all about her rehabilliation programme & when she is likely to be back.

There are only 4 weeks of WTA tournaments left for the year. If she is not able to recover & play any of them , it won't be a bad idea to play a couple of big challengers in November . This will enable her to get some competitive tennis before AO.

As expected Sania slide in her ranking, but good news is hence onwards Sania can only go upwards as she is not defending any points until June, Birmingham tournament ... And after that also not much points to defend.

sania's ranking has gone from 83 to 80, not as much of an improvement as expected, possibly since there were some points that were dropping off. i think, after this, there aren't any more points to drop off as she got injured around this time last year and didn't play for the rest of the season. so, one should see a decent increase in rankings provided she keeps up her good work.

No more points dropping off between now and the end of the year. She played the Olympics last year (starting Aug 10th), and then didn't play another tournament through the rest of the year. So the 50 points for making the SF at the Vancouver Challenger goes straight to her points total, and will bolster her ranking. She'll get 78 points if she wins the Saturday SF, and 110 points if she wins the tournament.

She will go up from 83 to somewhere in the 70-75 range now .. That is good. stay safe with some good challenger pts and let us move up from here on out after a week of rest.
