Re: Discussion on Sania's WTA Ranking
Sania has moved up 2 spots to be ranked 14 in doubles this week while Mattek moved up 8 spots to 22. This will enable to get a better seeding at IW & Miami.
In the doubles race rankings, as a team they are no.4.
Sania has 700 points to defend from being runner up at IW last year but nothing at Miami. Hopefully, after both the tournaments they will hold on to their ranking.

Re: Discussion on Sania's WTA Ranking
And now Sania is in top 5 for the first time in her career being ranked no. 5 in WTA doubles rankings this week ( despite not so good show at Wimbledon).

Re: Discussion on Sania's WTA Ranking
Really a remarkable achievement -- to be in the world's top-5 in any field of endeavour is truly laudable.
Sad to see, though, that Sania/Cara are not showing any real momentum, especially in the bigger events. Good luck at Indian Wells and Miami!

, PKB! Those events are almost another 9 months away! I am sure you meant, "Good luck at the upcoming USO series"?PKBasu wrote:....Good luck at Indian Wells and Miami!

Re: Discussion on Sania's WTA Ranking
Indeed, I was clearly sleep-walking when I posted that She will have a lot to defend when those tournaments come around next year (having made the final and semifinal in them...).
Good luck in the USO series -- although I don't think she is defending too many points in the tournaments before the US Open itself (in which she has a lot of points to defend from making the SF last year).
Her #5 ranking is actually a reflection of consistency over the past year -- being consistently good enough to make the QF of Slams and Masters series events (and occasionally do better) -- rather than any stand-out, spectacular result.

Re: Discussion on Sania's WTA Ranking
As expected, Sania is at a new career high of no. 3 this week.
Lets hope for a grand slam title and world no. 1 ranking this year.

Congratulations to Sania on becoming the top ranked doubles player. Next up is a Grand Slam title, right?
