Here is the news from today's UNI wire. Nice to see strong participation from India. Good that Jeev, who has not been active much in Asia being taken as the captain's pick. Arjun and Jyoti make in on merit in the Asian tour itself.

"Jeev delighted on being picked for Dynasty Cup"

New Delhi, Jan 21 (UNI) Star golfer Jeev Milkha Singh is delighted at being selected to represent the Asian team in the inaugural Ryder Cup-style Dynasty Cup, which will be played at the Mission Hills Golf Club in Shenzhen, China, from March 14-16.

''It is a great honour to be selected as captain's pick for the Dynasty Cup. I am looking forward to the tournament, which I think is a great initiative on part of the Asian PGA and Japanese Tour. I would like to thank captain Hsieh Min-nan and the Asian PGA and assure them of giving my 100 per cent,'' said the Indian pro who left last night to participate in the 900,000-dollar Caltex Singapore Masters this week.

The 31-year-old golfer is one of the three Indian players who will be seen in action at the Dynasty Cup. The other two are Arjun Atwal, who is the defending champion at the Caltex Singapore Masters, a joint sanctioned event of the Asian and European Tours, and the No 1 player in Asia, Jyoti Randhawa. Both Arjun and Jyoti made it to the team on the basis of their performance on the Asian PGA Tour in the last two years.

The Indian representation in the team would be the biggest after Thailand, who have four players in the team led by Thongchai Jaidee, who topped the points tally.

The Dynasty Cup is a three-day team event between Japan and the rest of Asia. There will be six foursomes matches on the first day, six fourball matches on the second day and 12 singles matches on the final day. The teams require 12-½ points to walk away with the magnificent trophy, specially commissioned from Wedgewood for the tournament. Eight of the 12 players made it to the team based on a points system on the Asian PGA Tour, while four were picked up by the captain.

Well Jeev had a poor year in general. He used to switch between japanese and the european tour and I wonder if that affected his performance. And he does not have card for European. His performance in Japanese tour was also not very good so i am not sure if he can keep that card. He did well in the PGA tour qualifiers but on last day choaked. Now I think all he is left with is an chase tour card and probably he can play in the asian PGA. I hope he performs better this year

And the 'fab five' rookies in the Asia team for the Visa Dynasty Cup defence against Japan are declared

Captain choose Singaporean Mardan Mamat, veteran Thai Boonchu Ruangkit, Amandeep Johl of India, Korea's Mo Joong-kyung and Angelo Que of the Philippines ... All these will be making their debuts in Asia's equivalent of the Ryder Cup at Mission Hills Golf Club, Shenzhen, China, from April 15-17.

Japan team: Shingo Katayama, Katsumasa Miyamoto, Takashi Kamiyama, Hideki Kase, Keiichiro Fukabori, Tomohiro Kondo, Tetsuji Hiratsuka, Ryoken Kawagishi, Toru Suzuki, Hiroyuki Fujita, Shigeki Maruyama and Takuya Taniguchi.

There will be six foursomes (alternate shot) matches on Friday, six fourball matches on Saturday and 12 singles on Sunday. Asia need to win 12 points to retain the Visa Dynasty Cup.

Hopefully Asia will continue their last time dominance over Japanese team ... Wishing repeat performance from Jyoti.

Amandeep Johl managed to win his first match with his partner Srirot in Dynasty Cup ... And Jyoti managed to draw his match and but was leading until 17th hole.

Asia did well to bounce back. Now with their tails up, Asia may again send Japan packing. Even Maruyama is not able to hep Japan in their quest for first Dynasty Cup. Go Asia!!

Jyoti still need to pick up his game as he is winless after two days. After the setback of British qualifier, he should get his rythm back and get ready for some important EPGA tournaments that are coming up. Johl did well to notch up his first win.

Johl's was a superb performance as he got 8 birdies to down the Japanese. Here is 2nd dayReport and JOHL HITS BIRDIE SPREE TO STAR ON DAY TWO worth reading.

Today we have singles matches. It is interesting to see that when someone is playing in a team, how dramatically indivisual performance can change with the pressure of representing a team.

Awesome display by Asia to beat Japan once again. 8 singles have been completed with Asia winning 5 of them and drawing rest of the 3. Four more matches to be completed. As Asia is now leading 13-7, Japan can at the maximum go 11.

Johl was leading upto the 17th hole, but finished with a draw. Jyoti after 14 holes is still at par with Katayama.

Jyoti just lost out to Katayama. I was able to watch the last 3 holes. It was a high quality matchup as was being mentioned by the commentators as both were -6 till that 16th.

In 16th, it was a par3 hole and Jyoti drove his first shot into the water while Katayama was able to land it in the greens. Jyoti used Provisional ball but this time missed the water and landed it close to the hole about 8-10 feet away . Then Katayama had an easy birdie putt chance to win the hole but he just missed it which gave a chance to Jyoti to halve the hole. He then made a great par putt to save the hole.

In the 17th , it was a par4 and Jyoti again made a terrible drive shot way onto the right into the dense bushes and trees and they were struggling to find the ball. Katayama sensed his oppurtunity and made a safe drive into the middle of the fairway. Jyoti then again hit a provisional ball which this time landed just infront of Katayama's ball. Then then were able to find Jyoti's ball in the bushes and Jyoti seemed undecided on what to do. Then Katayama hit a great second shot close to the hole . Seeing this great shot, Jyoti decided to concede the hole.

On the 18th, the commentators got into the act by mentioning how the Japanese would love to get one over Jyoti, referring to his comments after the Dynasty Cup couple of years back even though they lost this time too. Jyoti and Katayama , both were able to land it in the fairways with their first shot. Then Jyoti hit a great second shot to land it within 10-12 feet off the hole while Katayama landed it in the thick greens close to the bunker. Then Katayama brought it to near 8 feet off the hole . Jyoti had a birdie putt to win the hole but he missed it as he slightly misread the slope then Katayama had a par putt to halve the hole and win the matchup and he holed it to win it

Vishnu, thanks for sharing the information. In this tournament I suppose Zhang stole the show with unbeaten performance (starting from 1st dynasty cup).

Yes Ajay true star of this Dynasty Cup was Zhang ... And also dream debute and surprising package of Asian team was Angelo Que ... Congrats to Asia team ... Amandeep managed to score 1 victory, 1 halve and 1 loss .. Jyoti had disastorous coreline after wonderful performance in singles ... 1 halve and 2 loss.
