World Golf Championship - Asian Quailifier Sept 30, 2004
Starting tomorrow, India is represented by Digvijay and Gaurav Ghei . Curious as to Why is india not represented by Arjun Atwal (who has had a great year so far?)

I think Arjun Atwal will be attempting to qualify into the US PGA tour, and I seem to remember reading somewhere that the qualifying school event begins this week. Perhaps Jyoti Randhawa is also absent for this reason.

I haven't seen Jyoti's name in the starting list for PGA qualifier. Seems like he is giving it a miss.
Since Digvijay and Ghei participated in the regional qualifiers for world cup, they continue to represent India in the finals. But I don't know why our top players were not in the regional qualifiers. I remember last year also the our top players were not in regional qualifiers and we couldn't get through it.

Gaurav Ghei always seems to make time for representing India. Good for him! But I wish he would live up to his early promise as a player: he may be restricted from progressing because of a dearth of financing. Just a hunch...

A disappointing start for India. Although Gaurav has represented India at a big stage like this, but probably it may be first time for Digvijay Singh. I hope they keep their nerves and improve on their performance.

Another bad day as India still stuck at last position with a round of 83 (not the worst round today) for total of 164 and we are around 8 strokes behind the Denmark (second worst team).
Don't know if there is cut ?

India moved up one spot and did not finish last! The Indian golfers were seventh best over the last two days, which shows that once they got over the jitters of the first two days and settled down they performed well.

Can anyone tell us how these selection based on??? As I remembered Rahil Gangjee secured a dream victory in the $300,000 Volkswagen Masters - China in May and Amandeep Johl was tied 3rd position in Macau Open after leading it until 3rd round ... thats also in May ... these two were their notable performances. Or am I missing something else???

Jaydeep,
I am not sure how India chooses the two golfers for this tournament. Last year Digvijay Singh and Gaurav Ghei represented India and qualified from the Asian region.
Some Indian golfers are tied up at the time of the World Cup and most likely decline the invitation to play in this tournament. I think Jeev Milkha Singh and Jyoti Randhawa will try to qualify into the US PGA and will be busy. Arjun Atwal will also join Jyoti (he is certain to play the US PGA Qualifier) if he does not earn the PGA card in 2005 by finishing in the top 125 of the money list.
